My parameters might be off for some to appreciate and eclectic but;

Guiding Light
Gunsmoke
Law & Order
Simpsons

Any Tv series that last 20+ is a major point for the writers directors and actors. In a media where 7/8 years and you done, that's awesome.

Guiding Light was on the air for 70+ years, yes 70 years. I'm not a soap fan but that rocks.

I'm not a Simpsons fan either but catch it now and then. Scratchy was my favorite character, RIP.

10. Family Guy - The first few seasons were rather weak but now it's hit its stride.

9. All in the Family - Fantastic show and ground-breaking in its time.

8. Mad Men - Super-cool! Hopefully it will continue to shine.

7. The Simpsons - Sadly is wildly uneven now but for a time it was fantastic.

6. Twin Peaks - Short shelf life but TV has never seen a series like it before or since.

5. M*A*S*H - It wore its politics on its sleeve but I loved it.

4. Cheers - Especially strong in the early years. Kirstie Alley ... not so much.

3. Mary Tyler Moore Show - Super-talented cast & writing.

2. Seinfeld - It waned a bit by the end but TV has never seen a better comedy.

1. St. Elsewhere - I stopped watching TV for a few years after they cancelled St. Elsewhere. It was my personal boycott. Stunningly original even though it was a well-covered genre. Superb ensemble cast led by the tragic brilliance of Ed Flanders. Oh, and some guy named Denzel Washington got his start on that show. Helen Hunt too.

My personal favourites

1. Three's Company. Absolutely brilliant comedy by the late great John Ritter.
2. Law & Order. My mom got me into that show way back at the beginning with Chris Noth,George Dzundza and Michael Moriarty.
3. Married With Children. Is there a better TV character ever than Al Bundy?
4. All in The Family. Mom got me into this one too. Ahead of its time.
5. Saved By The Bell. OK corny show but it was fun. And I loved Kelly Kapowski
6. Family Ties. Who didn't want to do Mallory Keaton?
7. Fresh Prince of Bel Air. OK Will would irritate me sometimes but there was some damn good acting on that show.
8. Arsenio Hall Show. For its contributions to popularizing hip hop/r&b/new jack.
9. CSI: Las Vegas. William Peterson was magnificent in his role as Gil Grissom. How he never won an Emmy is beyond me?
10. Degrassi Junior High/High. Gotta get some Cdn content in there. Seriously though it was a great show because it really depicted life in high school.
