Season 5 of Ray Donovan is very timely, it's all about the Hollywood power play, obsession and stalking.

At the vortex of the plot is lovely Lili Simmons, perfect casting. She played the Amish mafia princess Rabecca Bowden in the grossly under-rated series Banshee. She knows how to play vulnerable yet manipulative very well. Susan Sarandon has never played such a detestable character but I understand her motives. She's doing what she must to stay atop of the mountain in a man's world. Liev Schreiber impressed me to no end when he spoke fluent French at the Montreal premiere of Goon. Had his personal trainer Wade Belak not died, that film would have been a major hit. Schreiber is Russell Crowe without the asshole on his sleeve.

Meanwhile Mickey Donovan (Jon Voight) takes horse Viagra and is stuck with his rod.

Nope. I quoted his exact words. If you want to make that claims that I'm lying you will need to show that his exact words aren't his exact words.
Yes. Even IF he was lying, you are not by quoting him.

I don’t think Harvey raped any of the women. I think those that had sex with him all agreed to sex with him in a sober state of mind.

However, I do think that he coerced them, sexually assaulted them, and threatened their careers if they did not agree to sex.

As a practical matter, the distinction is less relevant here because in both cases, he has no business being in business. Sexual assault is serious crime in itself.
"Agreed to have sex?"

If you proceed with an act under duress, do you really agree to it?

I'm rather disgusted that some in this thread think what happened to me was ok or not a big deal just because another guy who was older than me and also drinking that it was ok to rape me when i repeatedly said no and was also drunk. He was not hung over the next day, he was totally fine and ran around the house telling everyone. He even came back to wake my up after i went back to bed that day and jumped on me and begged to use my car because his friend's broke down and felt like i was going to say yes to him again. It didn't even phase him what he did, because everyone played it as being disappointed in me for not being a virgin anymore.

I also had a hotel GM rape me in my first month of working indy threatening me that I was staying at his hotel without permission and asking him in advance. He booked like a regular client, came in and interrogated me asking who I was working with, where my pimp was etc. I told him I was alone, and after the fact I realize he wanted me to be alone and this is why he asked. I'm sure some of you here will say I deserved that too because i'm an escort I guess. How horrible, I shared because there is entitlement among many men that they get to be sexual with women just because they are turned on, and use their power to silence us
Sorry to hear that and rape is never okay, regardless of your profession.

Some guys are just assholes

The difference is that there is still a choice to proceed or not to. While it may be difficult under the pressure, plenty of women stopped Harvey in his tracks at his not-so-subtle advances and did not have sex with him.
Bullshit!

So a woman who keeps her mouth shut and spreads her legs because her rapist wields a knife to her throat is making a choice to proceed? So a woman who is intimidated by being confronted with a choice to never work again in the field she loves unless they agree to have sex, proceeds because she fully consents?

I disagree. I think he might have jumped a few of them (but perhaps not all of them).

I also dont think the girls fought back too hard because their "careers" were at stake. Either way, coercing girls into sex is IMO the same thing as rape, you are doing something that the girls dont really want to do

How is that different from rape??
We've had our disagreements. But in this case we are on the same page.

Those girls went along with it BECAUSE they were AFRAID of what would happen to their career if they said no.

Really sorry that sharing your personal experience went the way that it did. Don't take it personally, it is just a sign that we're not where we should be as a society.

Weinstein is about to get his full karma, you can rest assured on that.

His career is over, his wife dumped him and I don't think he'll have an easy time finding another woman since he wasn't exactly getting by on his looks alone

Absolutely. That pressure out of fear is "duress".

Hmmm.... good points here. But reading the other bullet pts, what if all the actresses agreed to it, and never showed signs (verbal or physical) declining or disagreeing the offer?

Maybe the authority issue takes precedence. But who knows. It doesn't say it does. That bullet is right in the middle too, so it's not like the written text in any way would claim authoritative power takes the cake (assuming a laundry list is set in chronological order is king).

Are you kidding me? You thinks legislators give a rapist a legal out? Those bullets apply to a variety of situations and do not negate each other.

So (b) and (c) would apply to HW.

(d) means, no abuse of a position of power or authority is involved in the situation BUT the lady says NO!

(Good find Oagre)

Nobody deserves to be raped.

Curious, how many times have you been raped?

^^^^ could a moderator please ban fuji already??!! All he does it piss off half the board.
(I think he does it on purpose too, not sure though, he might be mentally disturbed)

He adds nothing to this forum aside from sow discord :ambivalence:
I think Fuji is responding in context with some sarcasm and playing down his shock in disbelief of what Smallcock said (I also vehemently disagree with Smallcock's particular comment).

Those are very different scenarios. The fact is a number of A-list female celebrities were assaulted by Harvey but did not have sex with him. It's a tough choice, but it is a choice. Fortunately he was unable to crush their careers.

I'm done with you. Please don't talk to me again. Feigning interest that you're "curious" how many times I've been raped? WTF
I'm legitimately curious. You've stated thus far that you've been raped twice. Once is terrible, twice appalling. Hope your fortunes change. Seriously.
