Exactly.
Last time I remember anyone studying it, they found at best it moved the polls a bit (enough that could be noticed) for a couple of weeks or so and then got passed by other info.
It is always possible that a big enough flub or moment or whatever can have a more long lasting effect (and that is what the news channels hosting it want) but I'm certainly not going to bother watching.
I don't expect much.

You're not going to get more than canned responses there.

The moderators are there to try and find a way to get a sound bite moment they can milk for ratings.
And, to be fair, the candidates probably know that clipped sound-bites used to meme on tiktok and twitter are the most likely thing anyone will actually see of the debate, so expect it all to be even less informative than the past already very low shitty bar.

Or, if a sound bite is meme worthy, it won't benefit one of the candidates but will benefit the media.

(Although I expect a sound bite that is the two of them sniping is best because they still get the clicks but get to claim they aren't picking a side.)
Two important points, this will be the earliest debate ever. They haven't even had the party conventions yet. Second, there will be no peanut gallery of Trumpists in costume and chanting, heckling, booing -often in costume like something resembling a fascist "Price is Right". Trump will be entirely out of his element (remember that critical mute button), having to rely on his wits. L:ets see how that works out for him  ...

Actually, the debate doesn't start until 9:00 pm EST. That's even late for me.

They should have had the debate at 3:00 pm when their post-lunch energy kicks in after their naps. ;)

Only from the chin up. Bet the nude babe would like to have her own mute button, though!
I was actually thinking the resemblance was strongest below the belly button above the knee.

Fox most likely is already writing stories quoting people like the dipshut from Flynt or trucker Joe saying that Americans think Joe isn't up for thr job and Trump is a master. Lying POS fake doctor runny Jackson is already spreading lies about Biden - fox will demand a full inspection if bidens anus and say it's proof he cheated when he denies thuer request. All of disaster dons gaffs and lies will be played off as jokes and saying stuff to Tigger the libs. Biden will win the debate easily as he did thr last time. Donnie will put on a WWE show and chant USA USA and lock him up
At this point, I'd be shocked if Trump shows up. I mean, what are the odds he pulls out at the last minute, citing some bullshit excuse about things being unfair, or the moderators are biased. I mean, Fox personalities from Hannity to Waters have been telegraphing that for a while....And Bannon is basically saying the same thing before he shuffles off to the crowbar motel until after the election...

If the debate is effectively moderated, IE speak when it's your turn and stfu when it's not, this would be extremely unfair to Trump, forcing him to debate issues. His MAGAs will be shouting over the TV...
So true. I honestly don't think Trump could argue policy. He never does. His rallies are all about griping about people that are unfair to him, or about inflated crime stats and exaggerated violence from what he calls illegals and vermin...

Now, I think he'll land some good body blows on Biden. He isn't perfect to say the least. But, if he starts being incoherent or rambles, maybe Donny boy starts getting some of the same "is he too old..." scrutiny that seems exclusively focused on Biden.

This debate is being hyped up so much I am expecting it will underwhelm as a purported momentous event. As a result, I wouldn't expect big moves in the polls. In any event, both sides will reflexively say they outperformed. This is the outcome of most Presidential debates.

I personally would like to hear both candidates speak on issues like the Ukraine, Israel, federal spending/deficit, immigration etc. I suspect the moderators will drift off into topics of less interest to people and both Trump and Biden will be prepared to obfuscate.

Be prepared for many debate discussions that don't really resemble anything going on in our country or the world. This I am afraid benefits two old men.
I don't disagree with you, to an extent.

For the polls, I could see movement if either one of them really shits the bed. However, on one hand, Fox has painted Biden as senile, so they have basically set a really low bar for him to jump over. Trump, on the other hand, cannot act like he's in one of his rallies and just spew out bullshit and not address the questions.

If both stick to topics related to policy, Biden wins, hands down. Trump is not good at that. And, Biden can point out the lack of legislative success Trump had when he was President. Now, Biden is far from perfect, so there is an opportunity to bloody his nose...

I really don't think the moderators will move to fluffy shit. I think it'll be on domestic policy, the border, budget (deficits), taxes and international stuff (Ukraine, Israel, China). Oh, and of course, reproductive rights (abortion, birth control, etc.).

Yup. It is going to be boring and underwhelming with no real substance.
No way! I must disagree here. The one thing about Trump is he is entertaining. I think it is going to be must-watch TV. Mind you, I also enjoyed The Apprentice. 🥵

I won't be surprised if someone @ CNN and/or the DNC is already feeding Biden the questions in advance so he can practice his lines on the mock debate stage they set up at Camp David for the past week.

You know, just like Donna Brazile supplied Hillary prior to the presidential debate with Trump, all the while she was a senior DNC official employed by CNN. She also gave Hillary questions/info prior to two Town Halls.

Problem is we might never know as the corrupt-as-fuck Dems won't make the mistake of getting caught again.

Can you imagine if a Republican got caught feeding Trump advance debate info? The far left lunatics' heads would still be exploding, there'd be five active threads on TERB lol.

Donna Brazile is totally not sorry for leaking CNN debate questions to Hillary Clinton

Donna Brazile is not apologizing for leaking CNN debate questions and topics to the Hillary Clinton campaign during the Democratic primary. Her only regret, it seems, is that she got caught.

“My conscience — as an activist, a strategist — is very clear,” the interim chair of the Democratic National Committee said Monday during a satellite radio interview with liberal activist and SiriusXM host Joe Madison. She added that “if I had to do it all over again, I would know a hell of a lot more about cybersecurity.”

In other words, Brazile would have made sure that her improper disclosures — which prompted CNN to drop her as an analyst — would not show up in hacked emails published by WikiLeaks. The lesson, apparently, is to pick up the phone or perhaps meet John Podesta in a dark alleyway.

Madison hardly objected. In fact, he said CNN should have expected this kind of thing.

“The one thing folk need to understand at CNN, MSNBC and all of this: When you hire folk who are, as you say, the, you know — their responsibility is to their candidate and their party,” Madison said, “they're going to do whatever they can to win. That's just — that's the nature of the beast.”

What a cynical view. Sure, Brazile is a longtime Democratic operative, but the network should have been able to trust that Brazile would care about the integrity of her employer's debates, too, and not abuse her position.

Notice that Brazile said her conscience is clear “as an activist, a strategist.” She is basically confirming one of the most negative perceptions of political operations — that the guiding ethos is whatever it takes to win. According to this cutthroat code of conduct, she did the right thing by putting her party's front-runner above all else.

As CNN dumps Donna Brazile, questions remain about the value of partisan pundits.

For journalists who believe it is time to purge cable news of partisan pundits, Monday's remarks by Brazile will only strengthen their resolve. She is suggesting that when operatives double as commentators, their true loyalties are in politics, not journalism, and they will try to use their positions in the media to advance their causes.

To those wondering if joe will be in the physical and mental condition to show up, after trying to ghost-shake someone's hand and stumbling off the Camp David mock debate stage, you bet he will. Coke (found twice in the WH) and Adderall work wonders. There is nothing dark brandon the corrupt liar loves more than attention. If he didn't show up it would just be politician Trump speaking about things that are true and make sense. The Trump deranged lunatic left crowd is hungry for sloppy joe's nonsense.

You likely have confirmation bias. Liberals support Biden's legislation that initiates spending programs and more regulation. It is through that lens they see the political landscape. It is uncertain if Biden's major legislation is popular with voters.

I really don't think the moderators will move to fluffy shit. I think it'll be on domestic policy, the border, budget (deficits), taxes and international stuff (Ukraine, Israel, China). Oh, and of course, reproductive rights (abortion, birth control, etc.).
You might be right. I hope so. However, it's possible the moderators will get lost in discussions on age and court cases both Trump's and Hunter's. Some TERB members will be cheering on these type of debate discussions. I would leave this to the candidate's advertising campaigns. No one who is voting in November will be unaware of this information.

I’ve blocked off my evening already.
Should be a hoot 🤪🤣

Pray for America.
Looking forward to Trump embarrassing that child-brained fool. Then the demokkkrats make a despererate move by making Obamas husband Michelle the democratic candidate at the DNC.

MAGA has done everything in their power to make this debate feel unfair to Trump. And, they're also doing everything in their power to make any Biden success sound like he drugged up (with what?) or some other conspiracy theory (like he'll have an earphone with someone feeding him answers/responses). And, no matter how incoherent or batty Trump sounds, they will say he won...

Then, of course, there will be online polls asking people who won....and you know MAGA's troll and bot army will slam it. But, it isn't a scientific poll, so the results will be bullshit. The real poll will come out in a few days. And, would anyone really be surprised to see Biden as the winner?
You actually think CNN in unbiased? You have your head up Bidens ass? 😋

I am taking the under(15 seconds), before dumb Donald spews his first lie. Then I am taking the over(20+), on the total lies the orange buffoon will regurgitate.

It really doesn't matter what happens tomorrow. Joe will still be old and Trump will still be old, stupid and a liar. Maybe the clown will hock his cheap bibles or those gaudy sneakers...now that be entertaining.

Prediction

TRUMP WILL LIE

AND MAKE UP MORE LIES AS HE SPEAKS

He made up two lies before debate

1

He is saying debate is rigged after he agreed to rules

2

Biden is on drugs

The irony is Trump rigs all his rallies and interviews
