we already agreed that it is real at least as long as the conflict is real (after which it may still be real but no one will really give a shit).Even if it did, it is still valid today in a very real sense as every Palestinian alive identifies as such.
Meanwhile you are giving out labels rather generously. Who is “every Palestinian alive”? Are Arab citizens of israel Palestinians? They sure as hell live between the river and the sea and they ain’t Jews. But they are not in a hurry to move to gaza or West Bank.
Here’s an interesting poll: 502 Arab citizens of Israel above the age of 18 were asked about who should run Gaza the day after the war, most respondents (58.5%) said that the administration should be in the hands of Palestinians. Of those, 24.4% said they would prefer local bodies from Gaza to manage the Strip, followed by 19.4% who said it should be governed by the Palestinian Authority, and 14.7% said by Hamas.
Conversely, 34.4% of respondents said that an external non-Palestinian body should govern the coastal enclave. Of those, 19.4% opted for an international force, 8.4% chose Israel and 6.5% favored a coalition of Arab states.
So their identity and love for Palestine is kinda all over the place as one would expect.
Same with Israelis, same with Canadians. Identity may exist but a lot of people won’t identify as you may expect. Every nation have heroes and traitors and everyone in between.
