Oh yes, the Left is never guilty of being fascist. They never use force to suppress opposition, they never attack an individual as a group, while simultaneously claiming that said individual is bullying them. There's nothing at all fascist about 'cancel culture'. Some of them even believe that Trans people are a race.

Why post a definition (even a lazy web-based one) that is at odds with your supposed "gotcha" you then post about the left?

No, it's not. Fascism is not tied to right or left ideologies and can be imposed by either.

Eg, from the left, some feminists defined rape as "any sex you had that at any point you came to regret". From that they started to bandy about stats like 90% of women were raped.
On the right Fox ran lots of discussions about the dangers of socialism, but what they were describing was not socialism but in fact communism. So again, miseducating their viewers.
To try to move fascism around to make it seem...might be similar.

As others have mentioned, the notion that Nazi's were not right-wing because they had the word "socialist" in the name really need to come to terms that self-descirptions are not always true or accurate. Like Progressive Conservative, or how North Korea calls itself the The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (or East Germany calling itself the German Democratic Republic). Not a huge amount of democracy in either of those two examples...

But, I get it, nobody wants to be compared to the Nazi's, who basically denied people due process and just deport them to prisons in other countries....Or try to restrict the free press and only providing info to "approved" news sources...

Let's face the fact; right-leaning folks don't like being called fascists, so they try to imply that Hitler was a socialist and left-leaning, despite all the evidence contrary to that. They just want to blame the left for all the issues, and pretend that the extreme right-wing are just angels who only do good for the world...

Fascism is most definitely far-right wing. There is no question about that. Hitler in fact hated Communism and Russia. Those are the facts. The issue is not about left or right but rather of authoritarianism vs libertarianism. Both Communism and Fascism are authoritarian and autocratic. Both are destructive.

To be fair, the words have overlapping meanings in many legal jurisdictions as well.
Like Canada, which does not have rape as a crime, only sexual assault.
