Maybe Carney is trumping Trump, He is using his own tactic against him. Delay, delay, delay. Other countries will rebel when they are hit with tariffs. Trump becomes vulnerable if he is hit with scandals of his own making.

There is no way you can predict if a govt will be good or bad this soon after an election. Thats just absurd. As for him being a liar, fact is we have the best deal of any country now. So do you lie low and let the consequences arrive or battle away and face the consequences just so people like you can say he was a tough guy. He always said he was a pragmatist
There is absolutely nothing Carney can do to please people like him. Even if Carney ends up getting no tariffs, they will spin it that he somehow failed.
Trump is a liar and/or a dummy. Why should ALL the cars be made in the USA? If Canada buys 20% of the new cars sold in North America, then we should be building 20% in Canada. We should also cancel that tariff on Chinese EV's and trade more with China ( when they follow suit and cancel the canola tariff). Why should we cater to Trump if he just wants to screw us unfairly?

CUSMA is up for review in 2026. Ever think this is just a money grab against USA taxpayers and an attempt to move the goalposts for those negotiations?
So really it comes down to Trump has no desire to actually negotiate in good faith. And if he won't then there is no point in worrying over it. Carney will continue to have the trade diplomats engage Trump's team, meanwhile he can use his connections to open other trade possibilities.
Well DUH, CUSMA is up for review next year, so is it best to wade into a full blown, antagonistic trade war now or, knowing its coming, we instead use the year we have, to prepare as best we can for the coming storm?
