My point was not to start a tit-for-tat list of violent politically-motivated acts. In my opinion, progressives (not all Democrats) are far too cavalier about political violence against right wing targets.
That seems like a Motte and Bailey.
You made it sound like left wing political violence was all too common, but you haven't presented stats that show it to be that common.
You now are saying we are cavalier about political violence even though in every post, we have said political violence of any kind cannot be condoned.
Guess you have just chosen to not believe it, which is your own bias.
Well, if he only he didn''t lie, push rage bait, and engage in stochastic terrorism kept his mouth shut. He made himself a target. He upset too many people.
I rephrased it accurately above.

No, my point was many progressives are too cavalier and flippant about political violence against the right.

You want to act as a scorekeeper of political violence. That's your thing.
How bout without condition stating it's all wrong regardless of the victim's political views.
Here’s what I believe. All political violence is WRONG. Hate and violence should never be advocated for. But let’s be real here. Conservatives and the right wing have been pushing that rhetoric for YEARS so excuse me for finding it ironic that Charlie Kirk was shot spewing hatred with his snide remarks about trans people and gang violence.

The recent shooter in Minneapolis was a Republican supporting Trump. You’re literally proving my point.
FYI, I believe there's an entire thread on the Minneapolis shooter who attacked a Catholic school.

I agree with you but before jumping into "vengeance" I haven't heard any nor I would encourage retaliatory actions...how about we focus on people who blames him for getting shot and a few that celebrates his death? Not really a dick move, just something who's unhinged would even think of...
Jesse Watters is saying "they're at war with us. What are we going to do about it?" Whilst he has a graphic saying the shooter is unknown. That shit has to end.
Kirk - despite his views - which I did not like - I had some respect for because he was willing to debate, which is what we need more of. People in their bubbles "destroy" "eviscerate" other's arguments, but not by debating those people. They develop straw man arguments of the "other" which they demolish in their podcasts. But they don't address the real arguments.

Or, as Jon Stewart implied about CNN crossfire, just televise the argument, rather than try to find common ground then address differences.
It's horrible for his wife and kids to know their husband/dad's death will live on in the internet forever. Just awful.

Well that doesn't sound like a double standard at all.
No, I just don't think Dowd should be saying those things.
I object to some of your perspectives on this thread.
There's a different standard on cable network news versus a sex forum based in Toronto.

As far as firing Dowd, that's probably too much of a knee-jerk reaction. It could be handled differently.

Actually, I kind of like Dowd. Can't say I follow him though.

If only he had spoken the truth the country would be more united in their comments about Kirk.
Huh?
If he had only spoken my truth, we would be more united in grieving and condemning the violence.

You tried to argue that Charlie Kirk wasn’t transphobic or racist but the words that came out of his mouth literally right before he died were disparaging trans people and a racist dog whistle attributing mass shootings to gang violence.
It's not transphobic to question the logic behind it...so far no trans advocate can really answer what constitutes as a woman? one that Charlie Kirk passionately challenges in most of his debates.

He was asked how many mass shootings were committed by trans people and his response was “too many.” He was arguing in bad faith and disparaging a marginalized group moments before he got shot in his neck.

no he wasn't... If he was asked how many mass shootings were commited by a certain group, he would've answer the same...any mass shootings are "too many"...but I know subtle ways of taking his answers our of context...

Unfortunately, the truth is the truth, and isn't subjective.
The phrase "my truth" refers to personal experiences.
Charlie was never talking about his personal experiences.
He fabricated lies to push his personal opinions, as the "truth".
Excuse us for seeing through his grift and calling it for what it is.

Buddy goes across the country and sits under a tent that says “prove me wrong” and when asked legitimate questions he responds with bad faith arguments and racist dog whistles literally right before he got packed. Watch the video and you’ll hear it for yourself.
