Reality One constraint of DSL is indeed distance from the telephone exchange - the farther you are the "weaker" the signal is. Note that your physical distance from that exchange might be 4 blocks but that the "wire" carrying your signal might travel quite a distance to get to your home...

Have had both squirrels & racoons. They keep you awake at night, tear up your insulation and wiring, and are no fun to corner in the attic (experience). Get a professional. Oh yeah, who says Fluffy doesn't get killed by the squirrel - didn't you ever watch Rocky & Bullwinkle?

Well - Yes, but - mechanics who work on BMWs outside of dealership say, even with synthetic...safer to change every 8-10k, not 20k (recommended in user manual). Cheaper than new motor :-)
