More emphasis on speed than size.
A player like Gregor can play in this league.
Smaller more agile goalies can play in this league.

More emphasis on gimmick.
Well, they can't do the same thing as NHL otherwise there's no point.
3 on 3 is supposedly more exciting to watch.
I find NHL hockey or hockey in general quite boring to watch.

It will attract smaller skilled players. The NHL is still emphasizing big and heavy players to survive the grind of the playoffs.

Will fighting be allowed?
They get money for a win. I like that.

I expected if there was ever another league there would be major rule changes such as 4 vs 4 to differentiate itself.
Surprised it went to 3 vs 3.

Given the descriptions of who would be eligible and how the league is limiting talent (only 3 current professional players allowed per team, and that includes minor league pros), I can't see how the salary cap is $30 million. He must have misread or was given bad information. Maybe it was $3.0 million? Because a $30 million cap for a startup, with limits on talent, is beyond insane.

It doesn't really look like they are trying to compete against the NHL for its players for the most part - just an alternative.

If it's 30 million per team they can definitely poach a few NHL players. No stars though. At 30 million it's over 2 mill per player average. The NHL min salary is under a mill. If NHL players are happy to make 800 grand playing hockey they would be ecstatic to be making over 2 mill. NHL entry level contracts are also under a mill per for 3 years.

The problem is that, regardless of the format, fans want to see the best players.

Well Dangle is walking it all back today.

Not surprising — given that the story was only broke by Dangle… and some of the business details (such as 30m cap) beyond much less possibly being done in less than 5 months.

Wonder if somebody dangled some BS in front of Dangle just to see how far it would go.

That's why they're not doing what the NHL is doing.
There's also women's hockey. They certainly are nowhere near the best players.
AHL hockey. People do watch those games.
Juniors people watch them.
IIHF worlds people are watching that.
