Let me try and outline why Pee Pee was successfully branded Trump lite!I posted he was not aligned with trump. You deny reality and call it lip service.

6. Poilievre supported the 2022 trucker convoy protests against COVID-19 mandates, aligning himself with movements challenging government authority. This mirrors Trump's encouragement of protests that question institutional legitimacy. This was the stupidest possible play he could have made to lose most of the country's undecided voters.
The conservative leader lost his seat.
He is the first prime ministerial leader of the party candidate to lose his own riding, that he held for what, 21 years?.
That is a resounding rejection.

Over the past few elections, I’ve noticed more Canadian (specifically the left) wanting more of a US antagonist vs protagonist style election. Even in the media, some of the headlines are so slanted it becomes harmful to the future of Canada.
Half the country is looking at the numbers and fact. The other half is voting against a perceived enemy, supervillain if you will.
True. But people omit the way he lost: there were 90 candidates on the ballot in his riding. This is just a mocking at this point. i don't know why it was allowed, but there should be only one candidate from each official party participating in elections on the ballot.
Congrats to the Liberal party on the victory. I am curious to see if they change their course. If they keep doing what they have been doing for the past 10 years, the next elections might be very different.
I am a bit disappointed that last two victories for Liberals came off fear mongering: first COVID and now Trump. On the same note, Cons have been in charge of Ontario for a long time now and i don't see any positive changes either.

In Quebec, there are a small number of very common surnames, dating back to the days of New France, (years ago, the Montreal phone book had three pages of people named J C Tremblay).
Often when one Party wanted to target a specific candidate with a common surname for elimination, there would be, like 30 fringe party and independents with the same last name on the ballot for that riding.
I'd probably be writing the same thing if the results were flipped, but this is straight copium. Canada has 2 right wing parties, 1 centrist, and 3 left wing parties.
Roughly
Green - NDP - Bloc - Liberal - Conservative - PPC
Vote share for left leaning parties was 57%. Right - leaning was 42%. There are easily 10 ridings where the NDP and Liberal vote overwhelmed the conservative vote, but the conservative won with ~35%.
The Conservative - Reform alliance is a blessing and a curse: It allows the conservatives to stay competitive, but limits their reach because centrists can't stomach the hard line reformers.
PP Comes from the Reform branch, and we've seen the limits of his appeal to the general public.
Also this: People vote, land doesn't. Everything not dark blue is a progressive seat. Even Doug Ford has figured out that you can't win elections on social conservatism.
The bulk of the Conservative's support is Sask and Alberta. They are a regional grievance party in line with the Bloc. They are just riding the corpse of Mulroney's PC's for another few elections until the 905/705 figures out their shit.
Yes JT got battered on the polls. and Carney wasn't...but there was a silent liberal base who are still on the fence on switching sides...and Trump winning was enough ammo for the liberals to spook them...
This is why people are wary of conservatives: "My guy didn't win. Let's restrict democracy until he does"
If this were a thing, there would be no PPC, NDP or Green candidates in any future elections.
