Time to switch to vehicles manufactured in Europe, Japan,
South Korea as well as EVs from China.

No more imports of GM and Ford from the U.S.

The U.S. will become the only importer of their exports.

If this happens, Canada hopefully ensures that BYD complies with the laws and enforces better working conditions in their factories.

Also, safety standards within Canada should be met.

"BYD said in a statement that it had cut ties with the firm involved and remained committed to a "full compliance with Brazilian legislation".

The greedy builders were responsible for the bad condition, not BYD.

40micmic, You seem to have a deep resentment to the Chinese, to the point where you will back a psychopath like Trump. Could it be that when you were a kid, the neighbors would laugh it up and enjoy Chinese food in their back yard while you got your standard hot dog dinner wrapped in untoasted white bread slice?

By the way, the video in you last post are two guys that use to live in China. Serpenza and Laoway86. They made a good living and lots of money posting on how China was modernizing and how marvelous China was. They lived very well paying about 20% of the cost of living in the west. ( living very well, indeed )
..........that is until they started to criticize the government which cause their visitors visas to be revoked. Imagine how their standard of living has dropped since they now pay 5 times the price for everything in America. Going from Chinese food diners to a single boiled hot dog wrapped in a untoasted slice of bread.

He is very likely a self-hating Chinese.

I do not know what happened in China in the past. If the government was as totalitarian as the media depicted, if pollution was as bad as was seen on TV or was it all western propaganda. It seems like they have modernized and surpassed the west in many areas.

BYD hired this firm to build there factory, did they not? Ultimately, they are responsible for vetting and ensuring their factory is build correctly and working conditions are not substandard. Do BYD execs not come into to inspect the conditions of the factory from time to time?

The workers who traveled from China to northeast Brazil to build a new factory for electric car maker BYD (002594.SZ), opens new tab earned roughly $70 per 10-hour shift, over twice the Chinese hourly minimum wage in many regions. For many, that made signing up an easy decision - but getting out would be much harder.
The Chinese workers hired by BYD contractor Jinjiang in Brazil had to hand over their passports to their new employer, let most of their wages be sent directly to China, and fork over an almost $900 deposit that they could only get back after six months' work, according to a labor contract seen by Reuters.

The three-page document, signed by one of 163 workers who labor inspectors said were freed from "slavery-like conditions" last month, includes clauses that violate labor laws in both Brazil and China, according to Brazilian investigators and three Chinese labor law experts.

BYD and Jinjiang will be charged with hampering the probe because they did not provide inspectors with the address for the workers' lodgings when requested, said Daniel Santana, a labor inspector investigating the case, exposing the two companies to a potential fine.

I know their stories of coming to China. They posted wonderful content about my country and some of the things I miss about home. However, certain things in China can not be overlooked. I'm glad they started to post stories about all sides of China and not just the positive ones, like the tofu dreg construction (and even that wasn't covered in a hugely negative light.) Unfortunately, that kind of shows you how closed off and restrictive China is. If you don't tell a China story well, you are not welcome in China and face punishment for breaking arbitrary laws such as "spreading rumours and picking quarrels." How can a country improve if no one can report on the negatives? How can a country fix its problems, if it continually sweeps it under the rug?

Shows your ignorance.

你死我活

Be prepared for this if you let the CCP infiltrate and compromise western democracies.

Do you ever notice that all these Chinese travel vloggers always visit the same places and have very similar scripts in their videos? Almost like they are handed a dossier from a Chinese travel company.

I am starting to get the picture, you grew up in China when things were not as good. Your family emigrates to Canada just as things start to pick up in China and you resent missing out on the modernization, opportunities and riches of a modernizing China. Now, instead of being the chairman of Ali Express you are a waiter at the Mandarin Buffet.

Hope so.
BYD is a great product.
I wouldn't mind BYD if they clean it up a bit. For one thing, they need to fix their rust issues if they want to come to Canada. Also, no more shortcuts with their battery technology just to get it out to market, it is going to kill a lot of people. Also, working conditions need to improve. But a lot of the features they offer are fantastic. But what good is that if it starts to rust within a year, or the airbags don't deploy in a major collision, or the battery spontaneously combusts.

But these things probably can't happen unless it can somehow detach itself from the CCP.

I've went back to China many times up until 2018. The modernization unfortunately is just a facade when the other half of my country is in ruins. Plus, Id rather keep my freedoms. Always kind of baffles me when people here are so amazed and longed to be ruled by authoritarian regimes.

Anyways, I much prefer Taiwan now.

WTF do you want? They cant fix everything overnight. There are slums in Canada and America. Places in Europe like Paris, Rome and London are not the tourist destinations as they were depicted in old The Saint TV episodes.

Which path of development would you say is superior. India or China from, say 1995 to now?
