WTF do you want? They cant fix everything overnight. There are slums in Canada and America. Places in Europe like Paris, Rome and London are not the tourist destinations as they were depicted in old The Saint TV episodes.

Do you remember what deng, jiang, hjt told us? Follow the party and we will ALL prosper. In exchange, maybe we take away some of your liberties and freedoms. Well look where it has taken us.

The problem is the CCP is only going to "fix" what serves them and keeps them in power and they can project that to the world. It is not interested in fixing the problems of the people. Again you are only allowed to tell a good china story.

You ever wonder why "tourist vloggers" in china never say one negative thing about china. Not even one annoyance or one thing they might disagree with? Have you ever seen any CCP propagandist or sympathizer living in china say one negative thing about the CCP about any of its positions, laws, etc. Here we are free to report on whatever we like, the good and the bad. This is not the case in china.

Which path of development would you say is superior. India or China from, say 1995 to now?
Ive never been to india so i dont have much to go on. We did have a few advantages over India during this time. I dont know the exact numbers but im sure our population was probably around 50% more during the 90s and that gap is now closed. Also, we turned our beautiful land full which dwarfs the size of india, full of natural resources and stripped it bare. Finally, i have no idea but i can almost bet my life that we received way more foreign direct investment than india did.

3 pretty big factors that contribute to development. So i dont think it is a fair question. I think we couldve developed way more if we didnt have this tyrannical government in place.

But the tyrannical govt was a part of attracting the FDI, while the Indian democracy attracted less... from democratic countries.

Don't know about Paris, Rome does have slums but they are nowhere near as horrific as the Philadelphia/Baltimore Death Corridor or the East Cleveland Blood Pit.

A decade ago, going to lunch at Markham Village, I was told that any investment in the PRC was an investment in crap. Now they've turned that image completely around, Musk's dominance of the EV industry ended in 2023. Tesla may become the next Netscape.

Jack Ma owner of Ali Baba was censured by the Communists causing a ripple effect throughout the Chinese business class. This caused their subsidiary Suning to default on their ownership loan of Inter Milan. How long can the Communists hold back the rising power of the billionaires?

I am starting to get the picture, you grew up in China when things were not as good. Your family emigrates to Canada just as things start to pick up in China and you resent missing out on the modernization, opportunities and riches of a modernizing China. Now, instead of being the chairman of Ali Express you are a waiter at the Mandarin Buffet.
Sounds more like you are pissed at the stock market right now and are deflecting criticism to expats because you are happy to turn a blind eye to the bad conditions in China.

Everything 40micmic has said in various threads looks legit to me.

Russia, China, Cuba and other communist countries were poor because was poor the west would not allow them to prosper. It was the anti communist propaganda from TV and the McCarthyism mentality that suppressed their economies.

How am I pissed at the stock market, profits can be made going long or short. The bad conditions are fading and better times are coming for China. Just as America. Canada had improving conditions in the 50s,50s, 70s. It is now time for China to prosper. Western countries have priced themselves out of the world market on many things.

Time to switch to vehicles manufactured in Europe, Japan,
South Korea as well as EVs from China.

No more imports of GM and Ford from the U.S.

The U.S. will become the only importer of their exports.

what are the volumes of us autos imported and exported ?

It exported roughly $59 billion worth of passenger vehicles that year and imported around $217 billion. In terms of volume, the United States imported 7.7 million vehicles and exported around 2.5 million.
trump would gladly forgo all exports of autos if he could reduce the volume of imports by 4 or 5 million vehicles and have those made in the USA

so very wrong

if the west had so much control over Russia, China, Cuba and other communist countries, the west would have stopped the commies from killing close to 100 million of their own people in the 20th century

commie countries fail because there is no incentive to innovate or put capital at risk
and commie countries always degenerate into totalitarian regimes
communism is an unachievable utopian ideal that turns into evil

had Steve Jobs or Bill Gates been born in Soviet Russia they likely would toiled away as middle level computer scientists at some university and one of them likely would have become frustrated, pissed some party official off and ultimately received a transfer to Siberia to disappear.

there is a reason the commies needed to build walls to keep their people in
while the west needs to build walls to keep people out
