The problem isn't people having pineapple on their pizza.

Its that many pineapple pizza people are entitled with no social awareness. Every group outing I have ever been at (work or social) some dumb pineapple pizza fucker, will order one or two pineapple pizzas, and that is the only crap that is left when normal people eat all the normal pizza.
Absolutely factual…seen it 100 times.
No thanks. Tropical fruit is NOT a pizza topping in Italy. I am biased though. Don’t like pina coladas either. Don’t care for anything pineapple actually. Must be an acquired taste. 🤷🏻‍♂️Call me when you find a joint in Naples serving it up and I’ll reconsider. Who am I kidding!?! No fucking way not eating that shit on pizza…ever! 🇮🇹

Fuck, I make my own pizza and add watermelon and squirt some ketchup on top near the end and put it back in the oven for 5 more mins. Best part is when I invite folks over for dinner they say they aren't hungry so I have leftovers for work. Win/win. I should tell these people to come over on an empty stomach than them always telling me they are too full.

You must have been to Rome then? Chef Gabriele Bonci served pineapple with mortadella pizza to Anthony Bourdain. They became fast friends. Some good came out of the tragedy of Bourdain's passing. Signor Bonci became a teetotaler. He looks radically different since he showed up on No Reservations.

I went to this place when I was in Rome because I saw it on the show. It was great, lots of exotic options, contrary to what all the purists say about pizza in Italy.

No Reservations is one of my fav TV Shows. I was on a road trip, and I woke up at my final Airbnb to hear about his passing. The room I was staying at had a few of his books on their bookshelf. I'll never forget.

I never understood this argument. Food has and will always be experimental. It is an ART.

Detroit Style Pizza may be my favorite style of pizza. It didn't originate from Italy. Am I not supposed to enjoy it, because it isn't "traditional pizza" Can the same be said about NY Style, New Haven Style, Chicago Style?

One of my local Detroit Style Pizza spots just came out with a "Nashville Hot Pizza" I can bet a million bucks there is not such thing as that style or those toppings ANYWHERE close to where the original pizza was invented. Do I care? Nope. Will I try? Absolutely.

How about fusion style cooking? Should that be allowed?

You want to go to Harbour Sixty and order a well done steak with a side of ketchup? Do your thing. Will I cringe? You betcha! But, hey... it's your money and your taste buds.

So... to answer the question. I approve of pineapple on pizza. Put whatever you want on it. I just had a chicken shawarma pizza, and it was FANTASTIC!

Anthony Bordain wanted to live "la dolce vita", it failed disastrously. It had a silver lining, Signore Bonci got sober, now has a pizza empire and a special on Netflix.

No, Sir, but I'd love to go to Rome. I'm a bit of a doofus when it comes to travelling. I just want my wife (or a chick) to figure it out and let me know where we're going. I'll pay. Good for Bonci for kicking the booze out of his life. I envy him in that regard.

Try this and you'll have the answer to the OP's question: Cut a slice of pineapple an inch or so thick; slick with tomato sauce, top with a basil leaf or two, a healthy slice of mozz and a dusting of Parm; bake at 500F until the cheese melts. Take a bite after it cools for a few minutes. If you think that it tastes good--like real good--then place in fridge until cold; cut into a large dice; use to top of bowl if Cheerios or Froot Loops you rascally gourmet you, add milk and chow down. And there you have it folks: the North American palate.

If you go, just stay away from the "tourist trap restaurants"

We found this "dump" of a restaurant a few blocks from the central train station. It was tiny and empty when we walked in. There was not decor to really speak of. Just tables. The waiter reeked of cigarette smoke and had a VALET jacket on. He told us (in his broken English) that it was his parents restaurant, and he works there from time to time to help out. Pops was in the kitchen, and Mom was doing everything else. I wouldn't say the son was rude by any means, but he was just more straightforward (just your typical European restaurant attitude). I'll never forget that meal. It was insane. Everything was fresh and it tasted like I was eating at someone's home. I wish I could tell you where it is (this was YEARS ago) and I wonder if it is even there.

Those are the places you need to eat at when abroad, IMO.

Pineapple on pizza is akin to another food sacrilege…ketchup on steak. It’s just wrong 😑
Totally agree with this take…. I went to STK with some friends and I saw a guy beside me eating a nice tomahawk steak with some ketchup on the side and I felt like the whole restaurant was judging him 😂

I don't know why people waste their time with this debate.
Personally, I don't like it but some do.
Whats the big deal?

But pizza is a food/dish that is known to have different toppings... Hell, my wife eats pizza with stuff like potatoes, no cheese and some other vegan stuff on it. I had some and it was actually really good. Steak is steak, but people still put sauce on their steaks (e.g. Peppercorn)... I'm a fan of rib-eye.
