On a slightly diifernt twist, a hobby I have is working on community theatre productions.
I am much less active there than my wife
But I still a few nights every month doing something. always backstage.

When younger it would be 3 night a week for about 8 month of the year.
For a few productions I have worked with some people who were well known TV hosts/personalities as their day job.

The production side folks asked, via stage manager, how they wanted to handle the TV side of their life. .
The predictable response was 'Do you want to talk about work while doing your hobby.
We treated them as one of the guys/gals.

The actors too a bit longer getting over the stage struck approach.
Lots of them audition for TV and stage roles all the time.

Up until this thread I didn’t think they did things other honestly hard working people do. I will note this as one of the things I learned this year and call my educational goals as met. 😛
If we're such horrible, dishonest individuals who hate hard work, maybe stop going on forums like Terb to obsess over us, and stop booking us. There's a whole world out there outside of what you guys call ''the hobby''

Out getting groceries yesterday and saw a fairly attractive young lady and didn’t make the connection it was a SP I saw earlier this year her until she was standing in the check out line in front of me.

She was with her SO and so was I. I wouldn’t have approached her anyway but now I want to book with her again later this week.

Not sure if I would mention I saw her at the grocery store in case it weirds her out. Or maybe she wouldn’t care 🤷‍♂️
Wouldn't it be ironic if your SO was experiencing the same thing ?

I kinda agree.....i rarely if ever referred to it as a "hobby"..it,s a cloyingly misuse of the word....its an obsession and a need to pay women for sex...its not fly fishing, collecting stamps,, recreation poker or reading books.....since becoming an adult, i needed to have sex with not only civvies but with hookers...i never referred to it as a hobby like so many here do.....its a misnomer to make it sound like a normal.life experience....to the outside world it aint a hobby or really normal....try this at a next job interview.."so what hobbies do you have"?...well i have sex with hookers

I never said it wasn't "normal" to have sex with "hookers" but if you view us as greedy amoral degenerates please don't. Nobody is forcing any of you to pay for these services. You don't need to have sex with escorts lol that "need" is in your head. If you want to at least notice the hard work we put between this and all the hidden labor you carefully ignore...

I personally don't want to see someone who thinks these things about me. This is my job and it's almost a full time job at this point too.

my post wasn,t about you or SPs in general...it was about me and my outlook on things...and yes the "need" is in my head, i agree...but dont lump me in with those who think of you as greedy immoral degenerates... my post was not about character assassination..it was about the word "hobby" and its silly description of transactional sex
i never said anything derogatory about the woman who provided sex for money
when i was seeing escorts, it was an enjoyable time of my life... and the girls who i saw were fun, friendly, humerous and kind, generous and understanding...but it was something i grew tired of quite frankly ....paying for it....

over the last 20 years on Terb, be it as Twobigo and Ogibowt...i have celebrated my time with street walkers, strippers and escorts...and to my knowlege never said anyhing derogatory... my posting history would confirm that.........anyway thats the end of my personal rant
visit the Black Music thread..its a fun time there...with some good people

I'm not talking about you, more like the people above who were denigrating us and saying we don't have real jobs and make money in a dishonest way. It was hard to read your tone, but yes, I agree that it's weird to refer this as a hobby.

I've had that happen to me a couple times, I saw one lady I used to see semi-regularly in the PATH system and I saw another at a convention.

In the case of the former, she actually got upset that I didn't say hello though I always thought that etiquette and discretion dictated if you see a provider in public, you pretend like you don't know her.

Semi-regular? I would have definitely smiled and said Hi at least - assuming there were no SO's present of course. Then it is up to the lady if she wants to continue / strike a conversation. I totally understand why she'd be upset - it can appear like she's good enough to have sex with but not good enough to interact with in public.

You handled that correctly...You never know if there is a loved one or family member close by that is going to join her.

Discretion is always the right play.

Several years ago I stopped at a full service gas station. The girl who put gas in my car was an MPA who I had seen 2 weeks before. If she remembered me she didn't let on. I decided it was best to say nothing about it.

Don't bring it up. You remember the moment but she doesnt and it gives off stalker vibes. Even if she laughs it off she might still think you're a stalker.

It always made me feel really uncomfortable when people did that.

I know it happens though. I would always dress up to go to the grocery store because people talk and I knew people I dont necessarily know or recognize are going to recognize me. Sure enough, I was always booked shortly after a trip to the grocery store 😂

There isnt necessarily any relationship there. Just a funny coincidence.

Once back in the old country taking the train to my booking and I see this hot ebony lady in the train, and I was thinking "If the ebony lady I booked looks half as good as this lady I'll be thrilled". She alights the same stop as me. I hang behind so I can enjoy looking at her. Then I realize...uh oh...she's walking toward the place I'm going, uh oh she just made the turn that strongly suggests she's going the same place, so I stopped, and then moved over to a bus stop and sat for a bit as I didn't want to be seen as a stalker. I waited 5 minutes then walked to the place. I'm escorted to a room, then the lady pops in and yep, it was the lady from the train!
I decided not to say anything. Great visit! We got on very well. Then on the third date when we were very comfortable I told her the story and she laughed and said "I was wondering as you looked familiar and I thought so but wasn't sure" then I made a joke about how we whites all look alike and we had a good laugh.

Again, the moral to the story is try to look at things from her POV. Many ladies in the industry at some point gets some weird obsessed stalker guy so make sure not to do things to get you mistaken for one.

I had a similar situation years ago. I saw a lady that I had seen as an escort with her boyfriend at an event. We were literally sitting across from each other. I couldn’t tell if she recognized me though. If she did, she put on a pretty good poker face
