I’m a long time and generally satisfied user of TurboTax, to the point of not bothering to look at other options. I learned that Intuit, parent company of TurboTax , donated $1m to Trump’s inauguration and was recently rewarded by Trump (do your own research if you doubt). Holding the personal conviction that corruption is a 2 way street, both on the part of the briber and the bribed (is that a word?j, I think it’s time to look elsewhere. Is there an easy to use recommended alternative? Canadian would be a big bonus. Thanks.

I'm like you... But you have to pick your battles. Tax software isn't it in my opinion.

If Harris won they would have contributed to her inauguration as well. Its called doing good business. I'm an accountant and I have tried several of these tax prep software products. In my opinion TurboTax is the most superior and easiest to use product in that segment.

Overall, I'm a fan of Intuit. They make great products and they are run very well. They just released their AI enabled QuickBooks version in Canada near the end of 2025. Personally I'm not a fan of the interface, it needs some work. They are getting punished a bit by the markets, down 13% already in 2026. I'm keeping an eye.

Ufile. No problems since I started using this app since 2008 tax year.
I've used both. I found TurboTax to be a superior product for ease of use. However, its been a few years since I used UFile so it might have improved. Pretty sure it was the cheaper option as well.

I used to us Ufile until one year they completely fucked it up. Couldn't negotiate it at all. Read several complaints that year from other users who were stumped by it. Maybe I will try it again.

The CRA used to provide Ufile to its employees until 2009, which for me was proof of its quality. I have used it for many, many years and have never had issues. To me, turbo tax is great, too, but I have been accustomed to Ufile. Each to their own, both great products.
