Four of the seven have been suspended without pay...

Canadian police services rarely release pictures of the accused, and I suspect they will name all seven at the press conference this morning. On one hand, I wish we had Florida's laws that require the release of mug shots and names upon being arrested. But, considering how police can arrest people and never charge them, I would be worried about people's reputations being tarnished for no reason...
They must show everything mugshots and names,

Information allegedly leaked by 7 Toronto police officers to crime groups led to shootings

York Regional Police say they have charged seven currently employed Toronto police officers and one retired Toronto police officer linked to an investigation into organized crime and corruption.

The police force just north of Toronto made the announcement at a press conference on Thursday.

"Investigators allege that Toronto police officers had unlawfully accessed personal information. This information was then funneled to other criminals who carried out shootings and other violent offenses," said York Regional Police Chief Jim MacSween.

"This news is both shocking and completely unacceptable. Corruption has no place in policing. It's never and will never be tolerated."

Deputy Chief Ryan Hogan detailed the lengthy and complex investigation, called Project South, which began in June 2025 when a conspiracy unfolded to allegedly murder a man who was working at an Ontario correctional institution.

Hogan said over a 36-hour period, a number of suspects went to the man's home in York Region "we allege for the purpose of murdering him."

He said the investigation uncovered serious allegations of criminal corruption among the eight current and former Toronto police officers.

"It is alleged that these officers have demonstrated varying degrees of criminality and associations to criminal networks," Hogan said. "The allegations of criminal corruption include bribery, obstruction of justice, drug trafficking, theft of personal property, breach of trust, and the unauthorized access and distribution of confidential information."

One corrupt cop is horrible, an entire list of them is a systematic break down. And a father and son none the less. Shame on you TPS. Worst part of all this? The amount of convictions lost and cases overturned because of this. This a HUGE blow to the justice system. Or lack of justice system to say it more correctly.

I still think we have a good Toronto police force though (for the most part)

Now I am sort of waiting for the other shoe to drop.
And maybe/probably a bunch of Peel or Durham or York cops get hauled over the coals.
For similar dirty tricks that got played in Toronto.

One police region cannot be the only place these sort of dirty games were being played.

I wish I was as optimistic as you are. They're far from good as far as I'm concerned. The reality is this is just the tip of the iceberg and just one example. Here's the thing, police are literally the most loyal gang there is out there. They never rat each other out and the policy is to turn a blind eye to your fellow officers which is what allows the rot to grow and fester. If the front line officers policed each other things like this would never happen. It's the don't ask don't tell policy that allows this to happen.

In a place far, far away
I was so hoping there would be a name of someone I knew there. But one day it will be because he is susceptible to bribes. Not today but one day.

The Chief of Police and force will do the whole song and dance and in the end these punks will get lenient sentencing. Mark my words
Mouawad and Madeley (Jr.) will probably get off with a slap on the wrist, but the other ones wont.
Not sure which one, but they found fentanyl on one of the cops. I think thats the end of his career
