Canadians will not buy only EV's in the future. Are our governments watching?

They just scrapped the EV mandate so you can relax.

True but now they are using taxpayers money to get more people to buy EVs which is total madness. It is like I take the money from your wallet then offer you a gift with the money I took from your wallet.
Agree to disagree on the timeline, but I definitely can blame people for being hostile about the vehicles and those who buy them. They're a great product that serve their purpose well. Are they for everyone right now? Of course not. But for me, it's ideal.
I do not because it is being forced. I am hostile also. I am for free choice, each person should have a free choice to choose.

There are tons of rebates for energy efficient stuff. Furnaces, insulation, windows... And EV cars ARE selling. They're more than 20% of all sales now. Pick-up truck sales are around 20% too.

No they are not.

^^^^ GM is among many other car manufacturers that are scrapping EVs or reducing it. The demand is declining. They need government mandates and subsidies for it to sell more. When subsidies were scrapped EV sales went down. Such measures speaks volumes to what consumers want and the usefulness of EVs. They are not there yet to replace ICEs, the technology probably needs another decade. There is one major hurdle and if it cannot be solved I do not see EVs ever replacing ICEs and that is charging times. One has to be able to charge an EV to full capacity the same time it takes to refuel and the electrical network will need major upgrades to be able to handle all that power.

That. The only time government intervention is justified is when there is a public good or a natural monopoly. If the government wants to spend money on the transition from gas to electric cars, it should subsidize or directly invest in infrastructure, not give rebates for purchasing the electric cars. Once every existing gas station has enough fast charging stationsto accommodate all cars that are willing to use it, then people will start buying the electric cars. An artificial increase in demand for such cars will only create future problems with infrastructure.

Building infrastructure is part of the government's duties. Canada's land is so vast and much of it is on the Canadian Shield. These places will always remain sparsely populated given the geography and weather and it is in those places that charging stations are very much needed. They did the same thing in the early 20th century when money was used to build lots of gas stations all over the country. There was an big increase in ICE cars so they had to make gas stations to accommodate the cars. It is weird how the Liberal government thinks. It is always virtue signalling with them.
