I’m a total cannabis amateur but I’ve started to dabble in lower dose edibles for the last year and an half or so. Always less than 10 mg, and often less than 5.
Positive things I’ve noticed
1. Food can taste
amazing. I’m not eating everything in sight, but when I eat good food, it’s incredible. 5-7 mg and an amazing meal is nearly orgasmic. As a result I love cooking a good meal after a bit of an edible. (

). Love the process (see 4) the smells and the eating.
2. Effect on sex (of course). Not a huge difference, but it helps me last a little longer, get more into the pleasure zone and focus on fun and feelings without stress/ anxiety / self consciousness etc. I’m able to stay on the “edge” of orgasm for longer, and the orgasms are longer and more intense. Overall feel even more “into” the encounter, if that’s possible.
3. Alcohol. Now admittedly, I’ve got into a bit of a habit of drinking more than I should slowly over the last few years. 2-3 most nights and more on weekends. 1 or 2 mg significantly cuts my desire for alcohol such that a beer or glass and a half of wine will do, when it used to be 3 or 4…. And in situations where I’d typically drink a lot (eg dinner/ party with a bunch of friends) a couple are just fine and can stay on a much more enjoyable plateau.
4. Focus. Sometimes it will help me focus on a task (eg cooking -

5. Sleep. Definitely have a really good sleep after

. Fuck ya.
Negatives
1. Makes me a bit stupid. And forgetful. Especially at more than 5 mg. Like forget where my keys are, what I went into that room for, did I take the food out of the freezer, leave the stove on etc…?? Sometimes struggle to focus reading something.
2. It can be sedating, so tend to get sleepy when I don’t necessarily want to, especially when external stimulation is low.
3. Panic / anxiety. Hasn’t happened often, but I’ve learned to avoid combining edible weed with stressful situations. You’d think it would help relax, but it can backfire. I’ve never had a panic attack in my life before, but twice after taking 7.5-10 mg of edibles, combined with being stressed, worried about being late or something I’ve come pretty damn close with bad anxiety, heart racing feeling unwell etc. Once I was cutting it close getting somewhere I had to be in an uber and I almost had him take me to the ER instead, until I clued in that it was anxiety, not an impeding fainting spell or heart attack. Lol
4. Edibles take a while to kick in, so titrating dose to the desired effect is a challenge.
For me lowish doses so far seem pretty cool, and have a generally positive effect. I have tried drinks a few times and do like the more predictable and faster onset. I need to experiment more. I don’t really want to smoke or vape, so edibles and drinks seem pretty good for me in low doses and overall pretty positive. Now people say it’s not addictive, but I’m cautious. I can definitely see how it could be at least very habit forming. My experiences with anxiety and panic make me careful to only push the dose higher in relaxed situations, with friendly company around
