Door wedges and portable alarms have saved me a ton of stress during hotel stays, and I also keep the chain or bar locked anytime I’m inside. I’ve noticed that better hotels usually have sturdier locks, and I’ve booked some of those at good rates through travelbusinessclass.com, which helped me stretch my budget enough to pick places that felt safer.
