What a waste of money. The referendum to hold a referendum fails decisively.

Votes are still being counted and as of right now less than a quarter have voted in support of separation.

I actually don't think it was a waste of money for two reasons.

Firstly it puts in to rest. They have no real talking points now, and can be dismissed for a decade. It also shows we do live in a democracy, and we do need to allow for this kind of thing occasionally.

Just as important were the other nine. Its my belief that half the leave vote was a protest vote to get people to pay attention to the other nine points. There are some valid issues in them that with some policy mitigation could also be settled and further erode the separatists popularity.

This type of thing helps get a better read on the mood of the province. Don't underestimate its value to helping keep the nation together.

This was said before voting day:

“Regardless of what happens on Monday, we’ve already won,” Keith Wilson, co-chair of the pro-independence group Let Alberta Decide, told supporters at a rally outside the Alberta legislature.

In other words they'll still make noise.

When are they going to call it a rigged vote and storm Parliament Hill?
Monkey see, monkey do.
Its quite clear. They just don't gave a case at this point. Or a real leader to rile them up...

I'm shocked they haven't blamed Trudeau and his party for all this because since legalizing weed the remaining voters who didn't come out to vote yes to separate stayed home all doped up, smoking weed and watching porn.

Those are loss votes that should be included. Lets bump up those voting numbers folks!

YES, YES, YES!

I mean...:censored:

Well the fat cowboy leader is facing fraud charges over his work with a first nation. So hopefully he gets disbarred and locked up.

No what I'm saying is that they blame Russia when things don't go their way.
I don't think Russia had anything to do with the separation bullshit, but I'd not be one bit surprised if American interests were sending money to support them. Jeffrey Rath, the lawyer who was one of the main driving forces for Alberta separation, stated he hoped the result of Alberta leaving would be for it to become a US territory, like Puerto Rico or Guam. The US would love that, because as a territory, Alberta would have no voting rights or representation, yet they would be an oil and resource supply to the US.

Was there US interference? No idea, but I would not be surprised and I hope CSIS is looking into this.
