On the welcome back the death penalty episode of
The National Lampoon Radio Hour in 1973 or 1974, It was mentioned that 'hanging victims appear to be sexually aroused', which led to the term "Well hung".
Years ago I worked for a company which did record keeping/ administration for various employment benefits in addition to wages on behalf of a number of Unions and the companies which employed them, (pension, sick pay, group life insurance and health and welfare plans, etc.) I worked exclusively in pensions, but I had a lot of overlap in member cases with the H&W administrator, usually at the time of pension commencements or pensioner deaths.
The H&W administrator showed me the 'attending physician's statement of death' associated with a life insurance claim. One expects doctors' notations on forms to use 'clinical' language mostly understood by other doctors*
On the form shown to me, The cause of death was listed as:
"
Anoxia due to hanging. Accidental asphyxiation associated with sexual fetish". This information was important, because the group life insurance plan paid double indemnity for accidental deaths.
