Do other people have problems booking at a-step-above? Is it only a old boys network?

Good day everybody. I'm a newbie. Any suggestions for my first SP? Are the pictures of some of the SP's real? Are there ones to avoid? I'm a little nervous about contacting the wrong SP. Thanks for your help.:)
