If 1000 monkeys were typing away on a thousand typewriters infintely would they eventually write the complete works of Shakespeare.

I would like to know what feelings people have about this often debated question.

It is very interesting to see views on this question.

You can change the 1000 to 1,000,000 or whatever. The key here is the inifinite part.

I remember Bob Newhart's old routine in which a lab technician monitoring an "infinitely many monkeys" experiment discovered that one of the monkeys has typed:

"To be, or not to be; that is the gezortenblatt."

Hmmmm... isn't TERB itself an interesting experiment in that theory? I'm sure that there are at least 1,000 of us, many of whom have the intelligence of monkeys, yet I hardly see Shakespeare coming out of our keyboards and many have been around for a long, long time spewing out what amounts to no more than junk.

Maybe we're just distracted by T&A though.

Well then , if we type for eternity will at least 1 intelligent thing be written by someone other than me?

Most of us type intelligently all the time but if you and your ilk keep trying you just may reach that magic once. :p

Don't hold your breath though.

Hmmmmmm, methink 1,000 terb members posting for an infinite amount of time will still result in nonsense.

Methinks that you and Lansclad have proven your point well.

As for Lancs, I really do not see how you believe your drivel, and ridiculous childish puns and hidden racism and hatred for anything that you cannot associate with over and over mounts to any intelligence.

Then again, if I went to a mental institution and asked the people there to explain to me what their art meant even though it is only therapy-they would probably think it is pretty rational. Just like you do when you re read your garbage.

The strategy of the man without reason.

Why discuss the issue when you just go straight to the insults and the arguement from intimidation.

The funny class clown in grade 5 has grown up and we all see what it has produced

Hey, you're the one who called my puns drivel and childish. Don't start down a road and expect to turn around when it suits you.
