Seems like the Raptors are going young. Finally.

They signed Quickly to a big contract that personally I think is a big over payment, but they have no choice.

Also, looks like we won't have any money to resign Gary Trent, which is a plus.

A rarity. Jalen Brunson of the NY Knicks took a massive pay cut to help his team stay competitive. He agreed to a 4 year, $156 million extension. The 4th year is a player option. If he had waited till next year, he would have been eligible to sign a 5 year, $270 million extension but would have prevented the team signing several players. He can recoup the loss after 3 years when he is eligible to sign a 5 year, $418 super max. But there are no guarantees. He could get hurt and lose all that money.

Brunson won a championship at Villanova with 3 of his current Knicks teammates. In fact, some are calling them the Nova Knicks. He is hoping he and his buddies can replicate that achievement with the Knicks.

Brunson received a $13 Million per year salary bump, and gave up his right to opt out of his current deal after next season. It's somewhat of a stretch to consider this a 'massive pay cut'.

because he wanted a chance at another Championship ring. The salary number is, however, misleading. He would have received the veteran's minimum salary for a player with 10+ years experience, and the difference would have been funded by the luxury tax paid by teams over the salary cap.

Tough win last night. The Raptors front office look to be focused right now. All the young guys are meeting expectations.
