...40 years a go on July 16, the Apollo 11 spacecraft was launched from Cape Kennedy to the Moon.
On July 20 will be forty years after men first touched the Moon !

Do you believe " The moon landing" being a hoax?

Hey, this was a DEM Project showing vison.
At least they didn't start a war like your boyz are inclined so often to do!...;)

A mission like this would likely never be undertaken today. The number of unknowns, things that could go wrong, cost over runs etc. etc.... Would be stuck in government red tape for ever.

Gotta hand it to them though! Was a truly gutsy move for them back then! HERO's of modern science and technology! All of them!

America's finest moment.

Truly amazing achievement for all of mankind. I truly believe that the space program is the one thing that the Americans do that elevates America above the rest.

Congratulations go out not just to the astronauts, but to the engineers and scientists who made the dream the reality, to the guys behind the scene in government who made it happen, to the men and women who worked at the cape. Often times the Astronauts get all the glory as they are the face of the program, the fact is there were tens of thousands of men and women who made the dream come true.

Holy shit! You are so farking partisan in everything. You must live a lonely life having driven all your friends away with your constant dem vs rep bullshit!

BTW, your “visionary” president started the Vietnam war and brought us dangerously close to a nuclear war, all the while he was fucking everything that walks, talks and has a box, and he was an example of one of the better democratic presidents of the last century!

In hindsight it was pointless, they have no reason to return.
It is hardwired in man's DNA. It can be traced back to when my (and your) ancestor left the cave and ventured beyond the horizon and got eaten alive by sabre tooth tigers.

Like the old joke...

Why did the man climb that mountain..... because it was there.

A lot of good has come from space exploration - inventions etc... I just wish they had gone back. By now we should have a permanent maned base on the moon - and we should have ALREADY put a man on mars.

Just to keep things clear ......
So, who's partisan?
Making the same point as Cinema Face albeit through sarcasm

Watching a couple of gentlemen on the CTV News channel and they said it would cost $100 billion to put a man (or woman) on Mars.

I was making fun of that line of thinking, too bad you're to slow to have picked up on that.

JFK with Werner Von Braun at Pad B, Cape Canaveral
Does anybody know the reason(s) why Cape Canaveral (formerly Cape Kennedy) was chosen as the departure point? No, it wasn't political. There is a scientific basis for choosing that location (despite the hurricanes).
