When a professionally employed man and a woman who would take care of the kids got divorced in the 1970s or 80s what was the settlement agreement. How would it continue after the kids were grown up and left the house, by then would the wife still be receiving any payment from the husband?

Umm in what particular case? Every one is approached differently.

The ex husband most likely will pay alimoney until the ex wife remarries, and child support probably continues as long as the kids live at home.

It's been good to know ya
I know one thing from experience with my mother and fathers divorce and that is a woman was not allowed to divorce if a man disagreed to it. She would have to have concrete evidence that the man was indeed cheating ie.. pictures/witnesses etc... My father would not divorce my mom till she found out where he was living with his common law wife and went there and snapped a picture of him in the place in his boxers when he opened the front door. It was quite the picture of him with his jaw dropped and a really really shocked look and even had her in the far background.
