Yeah but then you also have to factor in the colonial history of the region, aftermath of the Second World War and all the philosophical shit in regards to self-determination ...

Most complicated of all is the location of Israel ... right in the middle of those Muslim countries in which the Jews and them (Muslims) have been arch-rivals for centuries ...

But personally, I don't understand why these two groups dislike each other. I mean, ethnically/racially, they are the same type of people ... they should be like brothers.

To me, Christianity/Islam/Judaism in all their essence is the same religion. It's just a different name given to the guy that's up there ...

Yet, I had a friend who made a comment about Israel saying that having Israel in the middle of a Muslim region is like having a United States there just like S.Korea/Japan/Taiwan in Asia ...

Anyone remember the "Israel Lobby" and the "Taiwan Lobby"?

1/ They are the most powerful nation in the world and non-Muslim. Many Muslim societies are Very intolerant of those who are different. They seem to be like 15th century Christians.

2/ The US is the primary reason the Muslim nations haven't been able to grind Israel into the sand.

When I was in school, I had a few Muslim friends and in no way did they act nor display any forms of hostility towards me. Yeah, occasionally they'll through in their Muslim theology telling me that everyone was born Muslim and Allah this Allah that ... but all in all they were only trying to share their culture and religion with me ... and in return, I share mine with them too ...

I really do thing that these "ethnic problems" can be solved through mutual understanding and having respect for one another ...

In another post, Alien says he makes people from his country pay him instead of helping them because they will respect him more than if he did it for free.

FRUITY HARE: Osama has never propped up puppet secular govt's in Muslim countries that do what it's contrary to their beliefs. Osama has never hlped Israel and then vulgarly impose sanctions on Muslim countries that do the same sins as israel, i.e. Lybia, Syria and Iran. Osama never makes fun or rididules Islam as Americans do. Have you ever heard of the terms "sand niggers"? Who do you think invented it?

The difference betwen me and the USA is that I do NOT impose my prices on people. I don't bomb them, I don't make immigrant women have husbands that are puppets of mine, I don't try to buy their furniture cheaply. I don't invade their homes and set-up tents in their livingrooms to kick them in the ass everytime they don't do whatever I say. The USA does all this in the Middle East.

Dave, I wasn't referring to all or even most Muslims. They are not the ones attacking the US. I am talking about Fundamentalist Muslim Nations and Groups. The Nations, like Iran and the former Afghanistan cannot do what they would really care to because of the obvious consequences. The Terrorist Groups are a different matter.

I find individual Muslims, and I work with a few, to be very open and kind. What does bother me though was lack of horror amoungst the majority of Muslims at 9/11. While I don't have a Poll to support this, it seems that most seem to think the US had it coming.

I thought this thread was about demonstrating the benefits of free speech by beating up peace activists.

The most obvious idiocy in the whole stupid scenario is trusting the peace activist a) isn't armed, and b) like the thug, completely confused about the difference between non-violence and being active for peace. Given that pretty near all the warriors of the XXth century , and Dubya in this most recent colonial resource grab, claimed they were arming and killing for peace, I'd check the peacenik's pockets first.

Then, when you're sure he's no threat, beat the snot out of him and show everyone how real men preserve democracy.
