Hello all...

The new SO wants to go dancing in an actual club. I havent been clubbing since the Brant House had its grand opening. I have been sticking to lounges, pubs and bars in the King West, Yorkville and Ossignton area. I'm a little out of it, and my SO has only been in Toronto for 6 months (originally from the US). I'm reaching out to the community for advice as I find this board has a ton of great advice

I'm looking for a Saturday night:

- Downtown Toronto. Top 40 music, even better if th play a lot of New Order :)
- Diverse crowd, preferrably older. I'm mid 30's (but most people think I'm 42+), she's late 20's. We're both Westernized Asians
- I can't stand lining up for drink. I don't mind a short wait, but I don't think I have the energy or patience anymore to fight for bar space, then fight for the bartenders attention, and then yell out an order.
- Cab or TTC accessible
-I'd prefer if the club didn't have obnoxious bouncers and/or a long line up. A bonus would be if I could reserve a section.

I thank everyone in advance for their opinions.

Good luck. Your criteria(s) to avoid are basically what clubbing is.

Unless, you purchase a booth, then you might be able to avoid some of the negatives.

Agree with above poster. You do not want to go to a club. Maybe take her to Ruth's Chris or something,

As long as you don't mind springing for it, just get bottle service and a table/booth, you'll bypass the line and pour your own drinks (or have the hostess do it whenever they're around).

Not going to hear much New Order in clubs these days, unless your at my flat and my sound system is better and I probably have more booze

"this is london" or "ultra" should do
I personally hate top40 so I am trying to stay away from those places

I dunno all of these clubs still have the wait outside, fighting for bar space, young ppl. In fact I was at ultra last nite.

I'm an avid club goer..out every thurs fri and sat.

If she wants a club give her a club...put up with the long line, limited bar space, and bouncers who think that they are god. The only way to avoid all of this is spend some serious cash...skip the line up outside by paying the bouncers off..buy a sectioned off booth with server and bottles.

Tattoo rock parlour, no not top 40 but you aren't finding that anywhere worth going. There are older and younger. Do get bottle and booth to skip the line. Ultra its ok but it's really a less fun crowd, all guys with money and their dates trying to impress one another. If you go to a club you should kick back and have fun and that's tattoo.

Thank you for everyone's reply. I don't remember anyone dancing at all at Ultra, and the last few times I've been in that establishment it was for private corporate events. I do recall the patio having some great eye candy.

It looks like I'll have to spring for the bottle service to avoid most of my headaches.

Fuji, I checked out the website for Tattoo Rock Parlour, and the Saturday lineup looks like it will do great.

I didn't know "This is London" was still around. I might check that out too.

Thank you everyone. I'll let you know how it went.

One true barometer of a relationship is observing your SO's behavior at a club (especially after a few cocktails). Hopefully it works out and doesn't become a nightmare.

Yeah. If she brings home a girl for a threesome keep her.

Exactly. Even with a booth, you're hard pressed to avoid the afore mentioned. Does anyone dance at clubs anymore though??? It's mostly standing around and mingling anyway. Actual dance clubs like Muzik are too packed for anyone to dance...

I never even thought that this would be the case. I wonder if she's going to observe my behaviour now.... since she mentioned the reason she wants to go to a club and dance was because she thinks I'm an old fogey in a suit, and I should act more my age. Apparently, there are men in my age bracket that still go to night clubs on a regular basis. I thought i was acting my age by staying in, dining out, or getting out of the city on the weekends. LOL.

As for the threesome, I've already approached her with the topic. Its a little too new to suggest outright, but I think she would be game do participate, provided there was no risk of me taking off with the woman. I think the SP route is definitely the way to go.

BTW, I looked up bottle service for a few of the clubs mentioned, and I think it's a lot cheaper here than in Vegas. @ 180-250 per bottle, it seems reasonable to avoid the hassles.

Ya bottle service/booths are way cheaper than Vegas. The clubs with younger demographics generally have cheaper bottle/booth rates.

It's a test for both.

If the reason you're going to a club is to prove you're not an old fogey, then that's crap. Club-goers are just trendies with no independent thought or taste in music.

Waaaaaaaaaaay cheaper...

We go two bottles (1 litre bottles in vegas, not the standard 750ml in toronto) and a booth and requested an additional server at Tryst in the Wynn (vegas)..cost us $1500...
For vegas you pay for the experience, here you pay for convience.
