You were smart to back away.
Don't worry, she won't go to the cops. You haven't done anything illegal unless she's underage.

Since you're single you don't have to worry about her info, but don't piss her off further or she might come after you or talk to your friends, neighbours, employer etc.
I hope this blows over for you.

You have done nothing wrong.

Depending how much of a hardass you want to be you could go to the police with extortion.

At least tell her if you ever hear from her again you will.

Seriously, what did you write that could get you in any kind of trouble?

My guess is that when she said she had done it before, she's talking about scamming men.

you didn't do anything wrong, you didn't engage in a "business transaction", she is legal age right ? Pretty much keep a low profile probably be invisible if you still enjoying the chat site you met her on.

and she is probably pissed she is still in her financial troubles and hopefully she will remember all things do pass.

Her going to the cops on you puts her at just as much risk. Reminder her of that and she will back off.

The only reason she's threatening you is because she's desperate. She thinks you'll cave and cough up. Stand pat.

What exactly is she going to the police with.... that she was willing to prostitute herself?

Tell her if she needs money that bad, she should go to the police with that story.... but make sure she has a friend tape the entire episode, and that she should be really really persistent. If charges do get laid, be willing to being recorded yourself as you go threw the system.... kinda like a reality show.

In the end... I would pay to see a chick telling the cops she was willing to prostitute herself and feels really scammed that it didn't go down.... I'm sure a low end cable station would gladly give her a bit of coin for that.... Make a good episode of Maurey.

Cheers!

What she is trying to do is illegal. It's called extortion. If you went to the cops and worked on a sting to get her, it might provide some uplifting entertainment value.

please provide terb with her information.

Some terbites are high roller VIP$ that will pay what she asks and write a glowing review.

Then she can take that review to the cops!

If nothing else remember solicitation is summary offence, and AFAIK you didn't solicit her in a public place. There is actually a good chance you did nothing illegal. Extortion is a somewhat more severe as it can be considered a felony as far as I'm aware. Since you're not married the only real risk to you is some major embarrassment.

-Keep your logs (if you have them). Save your messages. Recording phone calls in Canada only requires one party consent (Only one person has to know) so if you have a decent recorder and she calls you again I'd advise recording it. Don't call her (IMHO).

-Keep your head down.

-Stand firm.

-You might consider changing your email and phone provider. That might be overkill.

Just to clarify there's no such thing as "felony" crimes in Canada. It's either a summary conviction offence or an indictable offence. Extortion is the latter.

I'd save the chat log (and everything else) where she threatened to go to the cops and let her know that what she's doing is extortion and that if the cops do show up you'd be happy to show them the log because it saves you a trip to the police station to file a complaint against her. Then shut down all contact with her.

I did mention I'm no lawyer... Oh wait... (I usually mention that. I'm glad it's the latter, for whatever reason my brain will use indictable == felony.)

But my advice stands. Keep logs, keep messages, record her calls, stand firm, keep your head down, and consider changing your phone and email.

Oops. I didn't mean to call you out - I agree with your advice, it's bang on.

Oh no, when I'm 'provably wrong' call me out. I take no offence to that...
