As a long suffering Leaf fan, I have very few moments of satisfaction from the season just past and not yet over for some.

But the VERY BEST thing from the 07 - 08 season for me was seeing that goofy shit eating grin wiped from Spezzas' face (and his teammates) by being shit upon from a high height by the Penguins.

IMHO, one guy fucked up all the chemistry and set in place a malaise that will take 2 or three season to unravel. That fucking Ray Emery, a legend in his own mind and no where else.

They had better start with throwing that sack of shit from a roof before they do anything else this off season.

Ottawa fans, I feel your pain, mostly because I have been feeling the Leaf version for three years now.

Whereever I am now
The differnce between the leafs and the sens is.... the Sens will make changes ...

right or wrong they will try something

The leafs will change ticket prices , and maintain status as the second best NHL team in Ontario (I was going to say second best team, but there are a few Jr. A teams that might take the leafs )

So who have been suffering more over the past few years, Toronto fans or Ottawa fans ?

As Toronto fans, we still have the Raps and Jays to cheer for, but in Ottawa, they'll just have to mourn and bitch until next October.

I was on a mailing list recently, that I could not afford to not be on. And the person sending the emails had her signature as a giant Go Sens Go at the bottom, which to me is inappropriate when people have no choice about getting the emails, and it is Toronto. So I was extra happy to see them lose.

Melynk will clean house. I agree. I knew him from when he was racing horses, and he hates to lose.

The Sens are lucky they're not horses, or a lot of them would be in the next cheap claiming race (Spezza and Heatly)

i'm not so sure of that. besides, Murray is still GM.

i don't see too many changes in Ottawa... probably they will lose Redden, and a few non-issues. but, the lack of scoring came from some of the top forwards in the game... that is an issue... i wonder how that will be dealt with??? i'd just leave them alone. they'll be back.

Changes I guess will really be fine tuning .. I suspect goaltender and D changes.. especially since redden will likely be gone.

I haven't dug too far into this but what the hell happened to them? I mean, at one point weren't they like 17 and 0?

And frankly, what's with alfredsdaughter playing injured? If I was a coach I'd rather have a healthy B player that can be at the top of his game than a A player that can't play......

BTW: you gotta love that hit he took off bell and frankly, Alf showed a lot of class in saying "it was a clean hit, I should have kept my head up" kudos for that and not whining about it.....

I just feel bad there now won't be any more of those 'After the Sens beat the piss out of ...(insert team name here)' parties at the local SC in Ottawa. :p

It is my understudying from an insider on the coaching staff that the team is so embarrassed by the Sens fans that they just wanted the season to end and they really hated staying up late and all that traveling.......

Man, I saw that and if I was a player I'd be embarrassed to no end.....that was LAME to the nth degree.

To compare a hockey player to a gladiator/spartican is ludicrous. Now if the players agreed to off themselves if they lost, then it would mean something but to compare a sports player to someone who fought for their lives?

LAME

That gladiator/trojan man would have been better off handing out 'trojans' to Sens fans. After all, they were getting fucked by the team's poor showing, may as well enjoy it safely. Don't want any STD's getting around .... Sens Trans. Diseases..... :p

Sens fans don't have much to cheer about, that's for sure. But unlike the Leafs, at least they made the playoffs ...
so it's better to get those 2 extra gates and humiliate yourself?
um...

no thanks.

i think i'd rather accept we didn't make it and use it as a catalyst for changes...

Three major injuries are tough for any team to overcome... and YES Emery destroyed this team and will be traded or bought out of his contract.

I do not think GERBER played well...yes he came up big at times but he also let in a number of soft goals.

While it was a 4-0 series, it wasn't as lopsided as you folks here are putting it. OTTAWA out played PITTSBURGH in the first two periods of game three in OTTAWA but Fleury was incredible and almost pushed game two into OT before a power play goal with 1:03 remaining gave the PENS the lead.

Alfredson showed a lot of heart playing at about 60%...and yes the whole 300 story line was about as corney as it gets...rumor has that muriel was put there by a couple of enterprising PENGUINS fans.

horse hockey.
the marketing people who put up the mural and choreographed the 'spartan' ceremony are soon to be former senator employees...and it was not an outside firm - these are payrolled employees.

dilute it anyway you want...
you backed into the playoffs and got spanked...
if blaming it on emery, gerber, and alfie make you feel better...so be it.

IF the pens squeaked by on one game...ok
two games...maybe.
but 4-0?

pwned.

the muriel thing being put there by Penguins fans was joke so relax.

I...wasn't in the playoffs but both of my teams were and one still is. I have season tickets to both the SENATORS and the FLYERS because I love hockey.

All I said was that the games were competitive considering all of the injuries the Senators had.

With regard to ALFIE I thought he showed great heart to come back and try to help his team...but it was obvious he was still badely injured.

With regard to GERBER, while he played well at times he also let some very soft goals get by him and soft goals KILL a team, especially a team as fragile as the SENATORS were. If he were a great goalie he wouldn't have been pulled for CAM WARD when he was starting for CAROLINA during their cup run.

Just because your Leafs failed to make the playoffs AGAIN doesn't mean you need to get nasty...

Except with the Leafs nothing will change. As long as the A.C.C. gets filled up with people to watch hockey, why should Leafs management do anything to get a better product on the ice ??

I think the Leafs are in a similar situation as the Flyers... both have high attendance and so they don't try to dismantle and rebuild... I've thought about the fact the Pittsburgh has won two cups and the Flyers haven't seen won since 75 but I really wouldn't want to be a Penguin fan and watch 10 years of basement hockey...and apparently neither do PENGUIN fans since they were seriously looking to move the team out of Pittsburgh unitl they landed CROSBY and MALKIN and had a winning team again... take a look at Pittsburgh's roster... they have a large number of UFA and RFA's after this season and I can't see how they'll keep this team together very long...

One year in the basement (Flyers last season) was enough for me. Getting rid of Clarke set the Flyers on the right path but all those no-trade clauses that the Leafs players wouldn't wave sure didn't help Leaf fans or their new management.

um...if my response was 'nasty', you need some thicker skin...
'horse hockey' was OK for M*A*S*H

and my response has nothing to do with the leafs not making the playoffs...in fact, AS a leaf fan, i think it's exactly what the team (and management) needed...only thing i wish is they would have tanked the remainder of the season to get a higher draft pick...
