Over 60 percent of the U.S. uses optical character readers with paper ballots, the problems occur with the other 30 something percent.

30% is a whack load, especially considering the election can tip on the outcome of 2-6 (?) states and a similar number of ridings. I also noticed the names were not alphabetical, which I would think would ne the default procedure, although who knows.

Blackrock, position on the ballot is determined by lottery (in each state - and for those offices for each congresional and legislative district).

Mitt was on the top of my michigan ballot--bunch of bs

Tuned on the radio for a bit, the right wing stations are like most folks don't wanna admit they voted for Mitt when they walk outside after voting, that why his poll numbers are lower.

The excuses they come up with

Mitt is going to win either way... they try to do everything like voter id, fewer days for voting, leaving it to the voters responsiblity to fill out the entire form and possibly screwing up which renders it invalid etc....

and let's not forget.. i hear Mitt has dibs in the company who created the voting software :p

Fair enough, now I know. I wonder how many proclaimed Libertarians past and present on TERB voted for Gary Johnson.

Some states determine position by lottery; other states use different methods to determine position. Each state operates independently.

And some states have had problems with machines recording a vote for Obama when the user touches the screen for Romney.

give me them old fashioned mechanical machines.

Less chance of fraud.

The use of electronic voting, in my opinion, raises the risk of fraud by the same number as the number of computers used for voting.

We just take the old 'HB' and mark an 'x' for the candidate of choice, keeping inside the boundaries of course. The only time we vote for multiple candidates is in municipal elections that include school board reps.

Get rid of the stupid electronic voting machines and go to paper ballots and optical readers. There is a hard copy paper trail and thousands, tens of thousands of ballots can be tabulated with the turn of a key - the best of both worlds. Any questions everything is there for a by hand recount.

How Michigan was, just ink in the oval box with a pen for your pick. I voted straight D's and on entering the ballot in the machine I had the ballot in the folder like you are to do so its private but I didn't feed the paper in right so this middle age-old white lady was eager to help me and said its easier to just push the ballot in without the folder so I did. Her face seem to light up and she made sure it counted the vote= i was the 542 voter at 11 am in our small district ...I thought afterward she must had seen my vote..so I'm hoping its a good sign since she sure look like one who voted for GWB years ago

It isn't much of a difference but just heard that the electronic voting machines as at the top of the thread actually make up 25 percent.

What happen with that town in Ohio that had more electronic votes for Bush back in 2004 then there was voters ? It was a very small town, only a few hundred votes so it never got much talk about but it did happen.

Yeah I'm not going to yell out for sure Obama has it till a longtime from now..he should have it BUT

the Repubs are bringing in a law that you have to say the word "ask" and if it sounds like "axe" you lose your right to vote!
