That sucks. Another disaster.

I can't remember the last time (if ever), a missing plane was actually found safely landed somewhere (but they had trouble communicating at the time).

Paris to Egypt... this doesn't look good.
Paris to Egypt, on an Air Egypt plane, out of Paris of all,places........who the fuck would book with them, thinking this would be a low risk way to travel..that's about as bright as booking with Malaysian airlines

Could be an inside job at the Paris Airport.

Paris is a mess. Another day another protest and/or terrorist attack.

With the terrorist activity so high in France - I thought Paris Airport would have a higher level of security making much less likely for a bomb to be smuggled on board. If I was to bring a french jet down, I thought Eygpt would be the point of origin.

They said the plane took a sharp left then a right, maybe they were fighting in the cabin. A terrible tragedy.

Still looking like terrorism, but not a bomb that explosively depressurized the aircraft, but rather one that started a fire, caused critical systems to fail and hence the aircraft to crash. ~~~~ Seemingly involving the food catering service either in Paris or one of the earlier stops that aircraft made that day.

Islamists Still Recruiting Staff at Paris Airport…

Islamist extremists are attempting to recruit staff at French airports, it was claimed today.

Workers at Charles de Gaulle airport were checked out in a security review following last November’s Paris terror attack.

Eric Moucay, a lawyer who represented some of the staff, made the claim today as he discussed how around 70 employees reportedly had their security passes revoked.

The review also found 57 workers with access to runway and aircraft were allegedly on an intelligence watchlist as potential Islamist extremists.

Mr Moucay told the BBC Today programme: “There is effectively recruitment going at the airports, that’s clear. There are people who are being radicalised in some of the trade unions. The authorities have their work cut out with this problem.”

Some 4000 lockers belonging to permanent staff members were also searched for any evidence linking them to radical groups.

Augustin de Romanet, head of the Paris airport authority, admitted there were fears about the “phenomenon of radicalisation” of Muslim staff who came from deprived estates surrounding the airport.

The downing of the EgyptAir flight led to a multi-million pound campaign to promote Paris as a tourist destination being abandoned today.

French foreign minister Jean-Marc Ayrault had been due to join the city’s Mayor, Anne Hidalgo, to launch the initiative at the Eiffel Tower this morning. But they decided to cancel the event amid growing terrorism fears.

Senior politicians and tourist chiefs were keen to encourage people back to the city following two major terrorist attacks last year, in which almost 150 people were killed.

Was having a conversation with a guy who is a bit of a wheel in the travel industry. he is saying that it's not if, rather a matter of when the cruise ship industry is going to take a hit. After all there's a much higher potential casualty Opportunity. The big cruise ship companies have already pulled out of several major high risk ports in the middle east and Europe
He also commented that, other than the UK , US, and Canada, traveller security at hubs in Europe is simply outright atrociously incompetent and practically non existent. So he recommends travel at your own risk, and don't blame anyone else if shit splatters on you and your loved ones

This is a pretty fear mongering statement to make.. Even with this "spike" in activity your likelihood of getting splattered in a freak car accident is still higher than getting it on a plane or cruise ship. I'm a frequent traveller globally but to many cities in Europe and while no system is foolproof most of them aren't that different from North American airports, a few are a bit more lax.. You should see Australia's..
