I'd be curious to know if it really is more common or just more reported on.
I don't think it's more common, it's just a catchy headline. I don't know if you saw the docu series ''Keep this between us''. It's about a woman who goes back to her home town where she was groomed by a teacher when she was 16, in the late 90's.. She discovers that it was extremely common at the time, and totally glamorized by the media. They like to report female teachers sleeping with their students because it creates controversy. A lot of men will respond ''if I was that age I would have considered this a blessing'' because they don't understand what it's liked to be harassed or abused by an adult as a minor. Some people don't understand that it's still a crime and it's still traumatic even if the adult is attractive. We also tend to imagine that all the men who sleep with minors are ugly and unappealing but in my experience when I had friends who dated much older guys as a teenager, often these guys were seen as hot and they used their cool factor and attractiveness in their favor.Seems to be more and more common these days… I wonder why it’s always the female teachers getting caught
I think it is more common now, for a number of reasons, most of which make me feel bad for the female teachers.
A very long time ago, male teachers, especially coaches, were once put on a pedestal in small towns. There were pep sessions honoring the coaches. Girls lived in a bubble, and many of them got married in their late teens, often after getting pregnant due to lower access to birth control. There was no Internet with salary information comparisons. High school girls have their lives planned out now until their late 20s and it doesn’t include a fling with an older, low-earning male teacher. High school girls study for college, work, and play on their own sports teams. Most would start laughing if a high school teacher tried to pursue them, maybe even asking him why she would want to date someone making far less than median income and who drives a very used car.
For female high school teachers, it is a different story. Plenty of statistics show that high school girls are less interested in high school boys than ever before, although she might be kind enough not to laugh out loud like she would if her male teacher asked her out. Most high school teachers essentially never leave high school, other than for college (which is often glorified high school). Let‘s face it, puberty hits earlier. High school kids today look like college students did decades ago, and high school girls have a much higher make-up budget than long ago, not in small part to the fact that their part-time jobs pay damn well now (like $20 an hour in some U.S. cities). While most of the guys here find these 25-40 year old female teachers very attractive, she is probably vulnerable in that she feels her face and body have deteriorated in comparison to the girls she sees every day. And she ain’t like the sex workers who participate in these threads. She doesn’t have sex with adoring Johns every day who tell her she is beautiful. If she is married, she is probably as bored with her husband as he is with her, and she has the seven day/week/year itch going on.
Women love social media, much more so than men do. Most of these cases involve the undersexed high cool guy contacting her via social media and/or finding a way to get extra academic or extracurricular attention from her. He wanted it to blossom into something more, and sometimes it does, particularly if she was extra vulnerable at the time. I don’t buy into the Grooming nonsense, or that these women belong in jail. Termination of employment, yes.

But the grooming thing by women on young boy is real. You're talking from your perspective as an older man.
I have nephews and I see how young And childish and impressionable and vulnerable more so than younger women who seem to be take on more responsibilities And seem to understand the world better.
Young men today are extremely vulnerable and especially so when have older men who feel like they are not.
So maybe grooming by females on males doesn't look the same as the other way around, but it definitely can be a controlling and abusive, kinda like a grown adult man who's attached to his mother. And before you know it the kid is 25/30 and he is stuck.
Agreed. Ultimately it's still grooming. I think a lot of what is being said here is based on speculation and not really facts. Nobody knows if this is more of less common than it used to be because fewer boys denounce their aggressors. Few girls denounce their aggressors as well.
Also high school girls definitely do not have their lives planned out anymore than they used to. They are teenagers. The documentary I mention above involves girls and women of different generations who were groomed by their teachers.
If you haven't been a victim of grooming or read extensively about the power dynamics behind it you won't understand. Often grooming involves an adult picking a vulnerable child.. usually this child is going through struggles or isolation or both.
Probably an unpopular opinion, but if I was a 15 or 16 yr old teenage male, I would be "over the moon", that a "hot" female teacher would come on to me sexually. In my day, it was every teenage boys fantasy. I know it's a double standard, but that's just my opinion on the matter.

Also, in my day there were no smartphones or internet porn. Now any teenager with a smartphone can view internet porn. Maybe it was your feeling at the time, there are also young girls who fantasize about older guys but it's a fantasy .. if it had happened to you for real maybe you would not feel the same way. I have a lot of friends who dated adults when I was a teenager and at first it was like a dream come true to them but then they realized they were groomed and taken advantage of

I think the grooming can be split 50 / 50 on both sexes. We will never know a true number statistics of a year because it can change.

There's a difference between say a 40 year old dating a 26 year old vs an adult dating a teenager.... I don't understand how you can say for sure that it's not grooming if you've never been a teenager who dated an adult. It's literally always grooming. Obviously teenagers have desires but they don't need to explore them with adults.

For example If we gather all the cases that happen in one year that can be gather by the police and not word of mouth. In all of the US - let's say - I am sure you will find 10 % karma of those case to be that number.

And also the age difference would be interesting to know from a real gathering of reports and not the ones that show up on the media. Now the example I gave/posted, the x-principal that gave me that story happened in Mississauga. The female teacher was around 23 - 25. He ( student ) was 18. It seems she was his baby sitter when he was young. Now would you call that grooming or karma? I went with karma because I asked several spiritualist about the story. And they leaned on karma / past life.
I am into past lives events or reincarnation. In this life, I have bumped into 5 woman of different ages, later after meeting them ( like several years ) I realised they were mine wives in previous centuries. That is why I had an easy communication with them now in this life. Like deja vu.
For example have you ever met a guy who has the looks of 6 / 10 and "has plenty of one night stands?" And you know well the clown has no game or weak game but yet he is able to bed a woman. Well that clown most likely was a John in the previous lives and he is hooking up with his previous SP's from back then. Although the women may not be one now. So do you call that grooming or karma?

Same here. I didn't have any hot female teachers when I was in high school, but if I had a hot female teacher, such a fling would be the ultimate fantasy.
I don't know if this is an unpopular opinion. Maybe you and I are the only ones who will admit it at this time.
Is it them realizing or society preaching how abused they were?
Speaking only for myself, I was imagining the hot teachers naked while in class at the age of 14, if not younger. Had any of these teachers asked me to come by, I would have gone running, fist-pumping all the way to their front door. No grooming needed whatsoever if she were an attractive teacher.

I didn't have hot teachers. But I worked in a grocery store during high school. Looking back now and instead of the moment or maybe I did and chicken out,. The hot cashier offered me a ride once. I said I was okay only lived a block away.
I wish I had say "sure please, thank you." And see where that would have gone.
