You know there is something wrong in the picture when Lou Dobbs of the CNN, a well-known mainstream Republican who uses his show as a platform to lash out the policies of the Bush administration.
The right wing, white Christian fundamentalists GOP will become a reality when moderates like Sen. John McCain, one of the few Republicans I still have respect decide to quit reelection or switch side or becoming independent.
On the domestic side economically, Bush hasnt done that badly considering the circumstances - But be has seriously engangered the US's status in the world, and increased the risk for us all - the opposite of his intentions.
You've got to give credit to him
BUT the tax cuts are wrong when most of the tax cuts are to the 1% wealthy Americans, tax cuts that don't make any real significant differences on their never ending zeros in any case.
Plus, more Americans are getting laid off not because of their under productivity like no offense here in Canada but because they are not "cheap" enough for the avarice corporate CEOs to rip more benefits, options what have you.
The Americans jobs are outsourced because the "corporate boards" like to do things on the cheap while the spread between the cost to hire Mexicians, Chinese and Indians to do the jobs and the profit they generate are pocketed to the corporate elite as bonus/performance pays!
Regarding US status in the world. I doubt anybody love the Americans. The difference will be the degree of Anti-Americanism. They may love the American Junk Food in KFC, MacDonalds, Pizza Hut, drinks like Coca-Cola, Pepsi, products from Microsoft, GE, 3M, enteratinment from hollywood, Disneyland and financial services like the Citigroup and AIG, but they are no ways they like America.
In the past, America exercise their muscles with restraint because America buys the idea of respect with economic might and power. Now you have the SOBs from regions who are backward in mentality, culture, economy heavily dependent on one resource and at best trickle contribution to the positive modernity in mankind, waging holy wars against those non-believers, America stopped being a nice guy anymore and any smart person will know under no condition you want to be on the cross hair of the elephant path!
