near year, new beginnings...

I would be up for a weight loss challenge.

One rule that is important is that you don't get credit for weight that you lose, gain, then lose again.

If anybody has some good guide lines to add that would be fine.

What do you think?

Mull it around and we will kick it off on SuperBowl Sunday... that'll give us 21 days and 23 hours from the time i write this post. So, initial weigh ins between now and Superbowl Sunday will be recorded as your max weight. you don't get points for gaining... lol

We can have some benchmark dates... say May 24, July 1st, October 31st and December 31st.

I'm 333 should be 205. I'm ready for a challenge!

Sincerely your big boned fellow terbite.

PS- would a buy in be legal? if it is, I'd suggest $50 per each competitor and the winner takes all.

members would be asked to post weekly, but not mandatory... it's more for encouragement to keep going and keep a friendly competition.

and we can have a %age based weight loss instead of total lbs.. any personal trainers out there that have suggestions?

thx everyone!

333-205=128lb Bone ( I hope this is Lbs and not Kg )

Seriously that is allot of weight to lose. What makes you believe that 205 is your target weight? That seams light for a male . How tall are you?

Keep up the good work but be careful

BMI can be a guide, but really does not provide an accurate assesment of your ideal weight. You're better off using body fat percentage to determine your lean body mass, and then add ideal body fat percentage.

That sounds more reasonable for being 6'5"

My 2 cents would be introduce more cardio in you workouts, slightly reduce the weight you lift, increase the number reps and sets.
Monitor you diet but try not to under eat.
If you find yourself going a bit CooCoo you are not eating enough

Try to keep you Crabs to mid day meals especially complex carbohydrates

thx for the advice... though, last time i tried that, i lost alot of muscle... i'm thinking though, without clenbuterol and/or anabolic steroids, i'll be shedding some muscle no matter what. keeping this much muscle on does require a 6,000 calorie per day diet... and countless whey shakes, egg whites, and chicken breasts does get bland.

i'll admit, i do know alot about nutrition, exercise, et al... and i have used the aid of personal trainers on and off for 8 years... it's just they like the fact that I am a good gainer. i'm getting older now, and i can appreciate a trim waistline, if i can ever find it:rolleyes:

i'm thinking of just keeping things simple. maybe i'll take advantage of the high canadian dollar and order nutrisystem (which is based in US$)... i calculated it and it is alot cheaper than going to the grocery store to buy my food anyways... i'll look into it further.

anyone else interested in joining me in fighting the fat?

no, no. i was just saying what my bmi says i should be. it's really kinda rediculous. i'm thinking i'd look good around 225-230. i can accept a little muscle loss... but, honestly, i am not 100lbs of muscle overweight... i carry too much bodyfat.

Have to laugh at that. The norm has sure gotten a lot heavier than when I was young. Then, 200 was heavy, and 250 was obese. Now we've added 50 friggin pounds of butter to those norms.
Anyway, I lost those 50 pounds of butter myself, diet, exercise, and Overeaters Anonymous.

BMI is a guide, and what life insurance and doctors use to judge; but - at 5'8", and 190lbs, my BMI has me at the borderline of being obese. As a firefighter, I consider myself in decent shape - I do admit that I'm not going to be the next one in one of those calendars, but I'm hardly obese...

When losing weight, the key is how you lose they weight... 5-8lbs a week is about the maximum healthy loss, without having medical supervision...

I am 5 '5" and around 180 I should be 150 normal and 145 fighting weight. I say we all toss in 200 bucks and set a 6 months deadline. Winner take all.

Any one who does not reach their optimum weight fore fits.........if no winner the money goes to a SICK KIDS HOSPITAL. No prize for most lost only results.

Next to the money pit.
Given your weight of 333 lbs.

1.What is your one rep max for the bench press (free weights)?
2.What is the amount of weight you are lifting for the back row?
3.What is your current cardio routine for the week?
4.You eating a lot of pastry food with enriched flour, junk food, and sodas?

I dont know about that one... at that rate, you're either violently ill, on some silly fad diet or just flat out neglecting your body's needs; neither is good.

Not only is it unsafe you will also be losing more lean body mass than fat.

I wouldnt pass 1-2 pounds per week

You need to consider the height of a person, if you find a 6'5" person that is only 200lbs they are not heavy and if they are caring too much fat they must have a very small frame. The guy says he is 333lbs, there are guys at the gym right now that are 300 plus lbs. with less then 1% body fat and they are not even 6ft tall.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's
height and weight 6 ft 0 in (183 cm) 260lbs
This man is not fat!

What was the average height way back when you were young?

According to the BMI calculator: http://www.consumer.gov/weightloss/bmi.htm you are obese. Loosing weight is not all about working out or streneous excercise. It's about changing your eating habits for life. It's not a temporary diet or else you'll gain it all back when you "return" to your old eating ways.

At that weight I am surprised you are not ill. As that's what happend to me. Over a period of a few years I adapted to a desk job and gained quite a bit of weight, stopped going to gym and ate the North American diet = milk, meat, vino, potatoes and not enough fresh vegtables or fruits. When I reached 220lbs I got sick, diagnosed with IBS and gallstones.

There are a lot of factors when it comes to eating right FOR YOU. Blood type is one: http://herbtime.com/InformationPages/Ainfoindex.htm
look up your blood type, print out the sheet and put it on your fridge or take it with you when you grocery shop.

Two, don't eat carbs and proteins during the same meal and include lots of raw fresh food in your life. http://www.vitaminuk.com/pages/articles/whatisthehaydiet.htm
I know this is probably the hardest thing for most people but good digestion is the key to weight loss.

Eliminate all 'white' food and mucus producing foods such as: flour, sugar, milk, eggs, meat. Yeah I know what does that leave you with? Vegtables, fruits, nuts, honey, fish, beans and legumes. Lots of water, teas or fresh juice instead of pop.

Ie: I buy brown or raw sugar instead of white and only have 1-2 teaspoons per day. Otherwise I sweeten with honey, pure maple syrup or molassys.

Juice Juice Juice. This will fill you up and plenty of sugar there if you do fruit juices. I usually do apple(good for gallstones), carrot, grapefruit, orange juices. For fiber and variety I juice beets(good for everything), radish (good for gallstones), cranberries(good for kidneys), celery, cabbage...whatever veg I can find. In the last few months I juiced so much fruits and vegies that my juicer blew up into pieces on me. So I am not talking about buying juice at the grocery store. Get a good juicer and squeeze fresh as needed.Don't mix fruit and veg juices together.

Nuts are a filler upper and give plenty of nutrients. Raw nuts are best of course. Cut out all the salt. Get SEA SALT instead, tastes the same just better for you.

If you must eat chicken, get the organic kind or try wild game such as New Zealand Lamb instead, it's leaner than chicken.

Clean your liver. Not doubt if you are this overweight, your liver is congested.
http://curezone.com/clark/liver.asp

Since I changed my eating I've lost almost 60lbs. It's been about 8 months since I started to drop the weight and pay attention to my health. That averages out to about 1-2 lbs loss per week. I think that is what is recommended as well, not more than that.

It's a long journey but I think if you gave yourself at least a year - your goal of around a 100lbs weight loss - would be more realistically attainable, rather than trying to rush to it. Keep in mind that it took you years to get this fat. You certainly can damage your organs if you try to do it too fast.

I wouldn't worry about your muscle loss. Excercise but don't overwork yourself. As for me it seems all the muscles are still there from when I used to work out, but most of the fat is gone. I am a bit flabby around mid section and to my dissappointment lost a good chunk of my big booty but I think it's easier to build muscles with only 20lbs of extra weight than 60 or a 100.

Education is at your keyboard. You must do the reading yourself to fully understand what loosing weight is about. Good luck to all you BIG LOOSERS! sTay healthy.

I wonder why you need to keep bulked up with muscles, I think you can be more active, thus healthier and feeling better if you toned them down a bit.
The BMI chart is a fair indicator, I'd go lower than 205 if you're 6'5". ^^^ Fabulous ^^^ has a lot of good tips.

If there's a contest, I think percent of weight loss is a good idea.
