Anyone know anything about Minecraft?

My nephew, a nice little kid, likes Minecraft. From what I can see the game is not as brain-rotting as most so I am supportive. He wants the Star Wars mod for Minecraft v1.8, on a Mac.

I go to help him out and download it, and every place I can find it wants me to jump through hoops by downloading a downloading program that might as well be labelled "brought to you by Viruses-R-Us.com". Are there any reputable communities from which to download mods?

My kids play Minecraft quite a bit. The site they usually download mods from is minecraftforum.net . I don't know when v1.8 was released but it often takes the developers of the mods a while to get caught up. There are likely earlier versions of Minecraft that are supportive of the existing mods.

My son plays it and watches videos of other people playing it while he is playing it... makes no sense to me.
