It is now being used for almost any injury.

Not paid for by OHIP and mostly done by chiropractors who swear by it. Here he is on TV interviewed by TV babe (he has been inducted into the spinal hall of fame)

His office has lots of professional athletes on his wall he has treated as testimonials. He swears it can do no harm. I am considering it for a herniated disc. I went to two specialists and my MD and no one mentioned laser therapy. Each session cost $130 and expect 10 sessions minimum

It is possible that a chiropractor will offer some effective therapies... Just as it is possible that the guy sitting next to you in a bar will offer you some terrific investment advice.

I think laser has been used for years for physiotherapy. You can buy your own little laser.

I'd believe that.

I can't see the impact of lasers for anything more than skin deep as the laser energy (visible light) won't travel past the skin unless the energy is so high that you damage the skin (and even then the only energy transfer will be as heat).

But if you have insurance coverage, go ahead. The placebo effect might make a difference.

1 hot/cold laser are 2 different things

2 enough people claim it work that it has to have substance

3 chiropractors are well educated and bright

1, neither will penetrate further than the skin other than residual heat

2, enough people claim prayer works to cure cancer

3, it's a pretty poorly regulated field. There are some things they do are backed by good science. Others, well....

1 how do yo know that?

2 it works on animals and it is hard to believe that all the success is power of suggestion

3 I would love to see the hard science. Have you seen any ?

I have used laser treatments a number of times. For me they have worked well. Usually muscle pulls. Helps speed recovery from severe bruises. There are different classes of Laser devices used by physiotherapists.
