Apple Iphone Service status?

Hey everyone,

I recently got the new Iphone 3g, and I like it so far. I still have to get use to the keyboard as it is a little sensitive but overall the phone is solid.

One question I have is about the 3G service. Is anyone 3g service working for them ?
On my phone I'm getting excellent signal bars but the instead of getting the 3G icon next to the signal bars it is showing connected to the Edge network. I've been on the phone with Rogers Iphone tech support....LOL... for two days now trying to figure out if it is my phone or their service locations of the 3G network coverage. They told me I should have 3G service in my area but all I'm getting the edge network service.

I'm thinking that rogers 3G service is not fully working.

Did you try resetting the phone, I have found that to fix a lot
of minor problems with iPhone. Same idea as rebooting your computer when you are having problems. Check the iphone website for instructions on how to reset your phone.

Well,

My first idea what correct. Apparently where I live there is no 3G service area. LOL. For those who want to check what area are covered, go to http://www.rogers.com/web/content/wireless-fun/vision?content10=vision click the vision tab and then click availability you can see what region are available, unfortunately I'm not even close to any of them.. Oh well, I'm on the 2G network, and most things work well for now until they upgrade more towers.


Also, for people are looking to jailbreak their Iphone 3G here is a way to do it using Windows.

Try resetting phone by holding the top button and the lower front button for 10 seconds . resets phone . Worked for me .
Btw The 3g signal was wacky for me the other day.
