Yeah... I went on an SP binge this month, so my answer is "hot chicks"! :D I figure I deserve it.

I took the question as to spending more for gifts to others---not yourself :D

Can I change my vote ?

I'm in the Xmas spirit and celebrating for the 1st time in 25 years, for reasons I'd prefer not to get into. I've spent a total of $140 for 2 gifts. Last of the big spenders. :D

My point is that there is no such thing as the Christmas Spirit.

The Christmas Spirit is ... materialism!

Now, if I actually give a shit about you, I will visit you in the hospital when sick, give you a ride if necessary, show up at your wedding, etc. Or we could work out a favor system: you owe me one, I owe you one, and so on.

And I have no problem with materialism either. Everyone likes buying nice stuff.

But this stuff happens year-round, usually without decorations, and not just in December.

To dress it up as the Christmas Spirit, implying that there is something more to it than simple materialism, is hogwash ... and people worldwide eat this shit up like it's real.

I'm so sick of buying stuff for people who don't need for anything and getting stuff I don't need every year. Such a stupid tradition. Especially for giving to adult family members.
