Will the Argo's Coach Bart Andrus last the season? He has no CFL experience although he does have NFL NFLE exp. Argos got blasted by Montreal tonite 25-0 and are now 1-5.

I can see Adam Rita or Pinner taking over if things dont change by Labour Day or sooner.

I watched this game tonight too. Damn , it didnt matter who was under centre the Argos pass-pro was abysmal and that is saying a lot considering the Argos werent even attempting a lot of deep passes. Its not all on the O-line either. Sure, Rob Murphy, Brian Ramsay, Dominic Picard et al had their lunch handed to them in this game but the backs didnt do a good job in protection either and when the O-line did give Joseph time the receivers were getting no seperation from the Als DBs. The offense was anemic tonight to say the least. Ive always said that everything in football begins up-front on both sides of the ball. Games are often won and lost in the trenches and tonight was a case in point.

This is the 2nd or 3rd year in a row that the Argos Offence has really been terrible. All that blame has to go to the Offensive Coordinator, players and head coach. I have not watched enough of their games or tracked their play calling to know whether it's the players or the play calls that are not working for them.

However, a few good places to start are QB, OLine and RB. I think Kerry Joseph has really not looked sharp.

I hope Andrus lasts the season, he seems like a good coach, and a decent enough guy.

He might be but where do nice guys usually finish?

Sometimes first - Tony Dungy. Granted maybe the exception more than the rule but it happens.

Toronto's defense is amazing this year. The OL is full of talented guys like Picard and Murphy as well. They got man handled last night because Montreal loaded the box and sent blitz packages all night. They knew Joseph wasn't going to beat them deep. When Pickett came in they were at least moving the ball. Andrus can stick with Joseph and lose every game. Joseph just isn't a pocket passer. He isn't scrambling the way he used to, and if this keeps up he'll be gone from the football soon. At 35 years old he's not going to get any better and he's terrible right now. They also need a return guy bad.

They did move the ball (a little bit) when Pickett came in but a couple of those plays where they did move the ball were on a def PI by MTL (Sanchez) and another play where the Argos motion caused some confusion in the MTL secondary and two MTL DBs collided with each other freeing up a receiver. THe Argos dont have the studs at receivers that can just dominate a one-on-one matchup so they really need to be creative offensively in order to get guys open. They still had pass-pro issues though even when Pickett was under centre. Montreal did send some blitzes even late in the game I recall they were sending LB blitzes a lot - no let up in the MTL defense for sure but some of those sacks too were just straight up due to MTL winning one-on-one matchups.

You bring up a good point though Keanu. I think the inability of the ARgos receiving corps to create seperation allowed MTL to blitz. Generally speaking when you blitz as a defense you will often leave corners on an island so then its a matter of being able to win the one-on-one matchups on the outside. Toronto's receivers lost that matchup and hence the sacks. I noticed a few of those sacks too were coverage-sacks so in some cases the O-line actually did a good job of pass-pro but Kerry was unable to locate an open receiver.
