Anyone watch this game tonight?

Obviously the Argos need to work on their pass-pro. Yikes! Rob Murphy and Brian Ramsay just got manhandled by Anwar Stewart and friends tonight. That Als D-line was just balling tonight. That being said some of the sacks were of the coverage variety. Even on the rare occasions that Joseph was getting time the receivers were not getting seperation from the DBs. The Als defense certainly played well tonight from the D-line to the linebackers to the secondary. Just a great job all around. Really like the game played by Ramon Guzman tonight too, he was making tackles all over the field. Loved watching the Middlebrooks v. Watkins matchup as well tonight. Can someone please tell Zeke Moreno to shut his mouth when his team is getting their asses handed to them. Whats with the smack-talk? Hey Zeke, check the scoreboard.

Speaking of D-lines how good will Big Blue's D-line be this year with the additions of Canty and Bernard and getting Osi back in the fold. I expect that D-line to just terrorize teams this year. The loss of Spagnuolo may hurt though as he was one of the best Def. Coordinators in the game. He was one of the MVPs of the Superbowl as far as I'm concerned a couple years ago when the G-Men beat the Pats.

Great to see a thread about the Als. They are looking good this year (they look good every year, right up to the Grey Cup? LOL) Unfortunately I missed the game with the Argos. Well, it doesn't sound like it would have been very exciting to watch. Even as a Alouette fan.

I think this may be our year to go all the way. Trestman has a full year of experience in the CFL under his belt. He's come back with an enhanced (this is one context where I like the word enhanced) playbook that teams are having a tough time figuring out. Both lines are looking top notch and Calvillo is getting good protection. He says he feels rejuvenated this year, and I guess that is partly because Trestman emphasizes QB protection. We have the ground game and the receivers. Secondary defense is talented.

But...

I think its got to be this year. Okay maybe we have a shot next year as well. But this team is getting old. Some key guys on the team:

Anwar Stewart DE 33 y/o
Kerry Watkins WR 30 y/o
Davis Sanchez CB 35 y/o
Avon Cobourne RB 30 y/o
Anthony Calvillo QB 37 y/o
Ben Cahoon SB 37 y/o
Brian Chiu C 35 y/o

Okay, 30 y/o is not over the hill. But lets face it. This team is built around Calvillo. And how much longer can Cahoon take it? He is incredibly durable, but he gets hit hard a lot. As you age, you are more prone to injury. Stewart and Sanchez are import pieces of the defence too. So that's why I say the Alouettes may be peaking this year. And an injury or two would mean a rapid slide downward. But I don't mean to be pessimistic. We win back-to-back Grey Cups first.:D

The ALS in my mind may have both the best O-line and D-line in the league right now. I like Anwar Stewart as well, he is not just a good pass-rusher but good against the run too and is good in coverage for a defensive end. I really liked how Ramon Guzman played last night as well at linebacker in place of Diamond Ferri.
