Well now...I have to admit I ALWAYS thought it was the father or the son / brother....

Wow...I can't imagine what it would be like living in a world that suspects - and accuses you at every opportunity - of killing your kid when you know you did not.

That is to bad that if Pat did not do it that she is not around no longer to see this day. Agreed it must be hard to live through life accused of killing your own child if you didn't.

This whole investigation was a tragedy. I feel sorry for Mrs. Ramsay -- she lost her daughter, and then was accused, found no satisfaction from the justice system, and died before they ever figured it out.

I can just about imagine. Here in Eastern Ontario, we have a coroner who is such a dimwit that I always told my husband that the second worst thing to his dying in a tragic accident would be having this jerk investigate it.

Sometimes, there is no justice.

I always thought the family was responsible, given the media's slant. Goes to show you that you can't make judgements based on speculation.

Bear in mind the media's vested interest. It would have been best for them to find some sordid tale of family abuse -- and the crime scene was compromised by feckless investigators from the word go.

The media always goes for the juiciest story -- that's why we shouldn't accept that cases be tried in the media. They have a vested intererst in outcomes that may or may not be true.

me, too! another good lesson, I guess, that we shouldn't rush to judgement without all of the information. Difficult, though, because we have to rely on the media for our information and hope that it's mostly accurate and not-too-sensational.

I'm glad they found the loser.
Although the whole idea of children's beauty pageants still doesn't sit well with me, that side issue was too overblown at the time. It's the only reason the murder was headline news internationally, if the victim was a poor homely kid the case wouldn't have got more than local attention.

Gee, I wonder what the pervert was doing in Thailand, sex tourist country of the world? I wouldn't be surprised if he paid to have sex with more children over there.

It's sick when you cannot trust teachers. I also agree that the way they had her modelling etc... probably did give her more attention than what a little girl needed, but the man was also a pedophile and could have harmed any child. In the end she was just a 6 year old child and I hope who ever did this gets what is coming to them.

I totally agree with all posts here so far and I am SO against child beauty pageants...I mean really, what kind of a productive life is that even if they do end up being a beauty queen? I remember some of the pictures and all the makeup and thought, no way she's 6......way too much for a child.

As for the mother, she knew they caught someone and were going to arrest him. THey knew 30 days before he was arrested but wasn't there for the actual arrest (or so I gathered from the article I read). As for her guilt or innocence, I don't believe she can absolve herself from any sort of blame here....what she did was basically advertise her child to pedophiles.....if she had flown under the radar her child would most likely be alive today....

I don't know....10 years, and all the weird innnuendo....I mean, I agree with the fact that the media frenzy contributed to the fact that the case wasn't solved, but some of the stuff..ransom note on stationery found inside the house, in the mother's handwriting no less. I hope this gives it closure, but the thing seems anything but cut & dried.

Let's wait until we here the evidence and he has a fair and honest trail. Only then, if found guilty, let's do what should be done to all child killers and molesters - BURN HIM AT THE STAKE.

Slowly though, not a roaring fire that gets it over quickly but a nice size one that prolongs it. We need to ensure that he endures long enough to reflect on what he did.

Glad that they picked the guy up in Thailand. Their police seem to have mysterious ways of getting confessions from people. :D Said on the news he will be heading back to the US in a couple of days.
Imagine if it was in Canada, some fucking bleeding heart judge would want to keep him here to protect him from the US system.
