Since it's painfully clear the NHL is nowhere near doing anything to effectively tax these kind of guys out of the league, the only realistic solution is radical street justice. Disproportional and indiscreiminate retaliation on teamates until either they turn on the guy and demand he's gone, or the management is forced to give him up to save the team further injuries.
The most logical place to start is just running the Rangers goalies. And I don't mean just some appologetic incidental contact made to look like part of the game - I mean full-on, undisguised bee-line for the goalie from 20 yards out automatic 5 & Game misconduct type of charge meant to knock a guy OUT. Maybe if the Rangers are down to their 5th string goalie before Christmas they will reconsider if Avery is worth he cost?
