Pegasus is no more. No more New Caprica. Starbuck really doesn't have a kid. So basically it's like the last 6 episodes of last season didn't happen.
Everyone is back on Galactica and they are still trying to find Earth. Except now there are probably only 40,000 humans left. Oh, and the Cylons now have Sharon's baby. Is that about it?

The Sharon/Boomer subplot is going to be interesting. I always thought the only reason the captive Sharon was being so cooperative was because she had her baby to protect. Once she thought her baby was dead, I thought she'd stop helping Adama.
Speaking of Sharon/Boomer, you can talk all you want about Tricia Helfer or Lucy Lawless, but for Cylon hotties, give me Grace Park!

Yes, indeed! So, if no Pegasus, that means no more "Admiral" Adama, back to Commander (or highest ranking Colonel). In one of the video blogs on the 2.5 DVD release, they coach Grace Park to act like she wants to hold her baby but is not allowed to, so I assume, eventually, she will find out about it and make some sort of legal or military effort to get her baby back. Cylons can download their experiences from each model to a central station, therefore if one of the other Sharons sees "her" baby, it will eventually be downloaded to the Galactica Sharon.
Just a side note, the original mini-series has a way to kill all the Cylons. It's a slow process, but it works.

I never watched the original Battlestar Galactica. I know the basic storylines are the same--Cylons bad, humans on the run. I know some of the key characters have the same names--Adama, Apollo, Starbuck (although now a chick), Baltar, and there was even a Boomer on the original show, right?
So please enlighten me... how are the two versions different, better, worse, etc.?

Lots of things in common - and lot's different... lolhomonger said:

- no 'human' looking cylons (until Galactica 1980 - which wasn't as good)
- Vipers and other ships flew as if in atmosphere.
- Ships capable of faster than light speed.
- Lasers and Pulsars.
- Gayos was an 'active' traiter (not tricked into it).
- They never established a colony on a 'new Caprica'.
- Cylons had a 'supreme leader', not a 'hive mind'.
- Starbuck, Boomer, and Caine were all male.
New:
- Hot babes in skimpy clothes
- Sex (and lots of it)
- Ships 'jump' now, instead of just flying along....
- Bullets, rockets, etc...
- Ships actually fly like in space.
- Some cylons actually trying to 'understand' mankind
- Cylons trying to 'mate' with mankind
- Raptors (a cool new ship)
Those are just a few things...
Battlestar orginal was geared towards kids. Looking back was mostly badly written. Geared towards kids. Was basically a western in space Loren Green as Pa, laser pistals for guns, vipers replace horses and BSG as the ranch, cylons were the out of town difters determined to destory the ranch/BSG.
Since graphics were costly back then they used the same battle scenes over and over in every episode.
Battlestar TNG is for adults. It is very much about storylines and subplots. Well written and acted.
Really the only thing in common is the name of the show, some of the character names, and some really hot actors/actresses.
