We have in the past had more exposure to the British and european beers so inspite of the dreck produced by Molson and Labatt we have had salvation.
In my recent trip thru the US though I was very shocked to see wide varieties of quality beers from lots of craft micro-breweries so things are getting better there.
I just love to take a jab at Bud and Coors since they are closer to foamie dishwater than they are to beer.
It's quite amusing how many Canadians think this a beer drinking nation when worldwide we are not (even when you compare liters/gallons per person per annum).
It is a little known fact that beer makes you smarter. Think about it. Beer kills brain cells. Darwin's theory of "survival of the fittest" dictates that the weak brain cells will die first, leaving only the best, the strongest ones to live on, raising the average quality of the brain cells over time.
I can recall several times when I really tied one on and discovered I had been MUCH more stupid the night before than what I was when I woke up the next day.
We have some pretty good micro brews here. Take a trip tp Portland Oregon and check out the choices. Siera Navada has one of the best IPA's , Red Hook makes a quality beer, Yingling makes one of the best North American LagersI have ever tasted. Of couse I still find Guinnes to be a damn good call. I will admit that I will not drink imported Canadian brews but love the real Canadian versions.
