Before the web, and especially before terb, it was a total BS crap shoot.

It was totally hit and miss, and mostly miss.

YO-Yo-YO the ladies used to yell out while you drove past in your car It was get outside and be seen, certain ladies could be found on certain streets--now its waitting for a cell call.

You used to be able to find girls on Usenet back when it was the norm and before that on the BBS world in the forums.

The Red Zone was only phone originally and that worked.

Now Magazine and before that TAB.

Now to go really way back... in Penthouse there used to be a section at the end that was classified ads where the ladies from all over North America would detail themselves.

Other than that it was mostly 'word of mouth' for independents who provided in-calls. Brothels etc. and as Lisa indicates the Yellow Pages.
