My friend and I took an extra long lunch today and went downtown to a place called smokes poutinerie (www.smokespoutinerie.com). Holy crap that was the best poutine ever, actually the best tasting thing I had in awhile.

I had the triple pork poutine. Basically pork, pork and more pork over a bed of awesome fries and gravy. My heart area does hurt a bit now but it was worth it.

also they have burrito boyz below this place and that place is amazing too. If I lived closer I would be 600 lbs for sure.

If you love poutines this is the place to go. Its even open late, I think for the clubbers. Its so good I almost started to cry. The only thing that sucks is the place is small and from what my friend tells me is always busy, so getting a seat might be a little annoying.

I think the best day ever would be to go for a massage and then finish off the night with a poutine or even better, like george castanza, eating the poutnie while you are getting a massage.

I had a session with an SP once who was eating a corned beef sandwich lol. It was a CL appt. I enter and she is half way through a corned beef on rye, she pushes it to one side and immediantly DFK's me - the sandwich transfer tasted sort of good, not up to Centre Street Deli standards, but good LOL. Whenever I order a corned beef sandwich now I can't help but think of that SP (she is now retired). I guess it added an element of Hollywood realism in a way - sort of like you're in a restaurant and see this hot blonde eating lunch and it is lust at first sight and you rush over and DFK in slow motion. Nothing spontaneous about brushing teeth or mouthwash lol. It was gross if I think about it on the one hand, but unusal/interesting on the other.

Anyway, thanks for the tip on the great poutine place!

I'm not from the area, but if I am I would love to try them. Are all the locations in toronto in the downtown core? do they have parking, parking lots? or do I have to park on the streets if I can find a parking spot.

Out being curious
Smokes is the only place in Toronto that i would promote for a poutine.
Other than La Banquise in Montreal, I would put it atop my list of best poutines.

Not sure when...but Smokes was going to make the biggest poutine in the world on BMO field sometime soon..
I heard it on z103.5

There is one right across from Filmores. You can go, stuff your gut, and lube up your hands for some speedy groping.

Oh ya, classy! Rub fryer grease all over the women of your dreams in a bar. Knock yourself out. If you double up on the napkins then you can wipe off the stains on your coveralls.

Actually, in the other poutine thread, someone suggested using swiss chalet sauce on Harvey's poutine. I tried it and it is a great improvement over their beef gravy version.

Now if you want to give your heart a workout? Try swiss chalet sauce AND sour cream on it....F me that was good.......

IMHO, a poutine should just be fries, gravey, and cheese curds. When you add "other" toppins it's no longer a poutine, but some sort of fries supreme. i found the best way to put the poutine together is put half the fries first, top that with half of your cheese, then do it again with the remaining fries and cheese, then top it with gravey. That way you get more of a consitency with each bite.

oh so, if you put pepper on it does that too mean it is no longer poutine?
if you put mustard on a hamburger is it no longer a hamburger?

Gimme a break.

poutine with the Chinese pork where they leave the back fat on

yum

I also had a poutine substitute one time I was impressed with, this place on Avenue & Dupont I think it's called "Live",

It was raw Jicama with some kind of pesto sauce or something like that. I thought it would suck but was pleasantly surprised.

also try these sometime on your poutine

my fave: mix up some wasabi with tabasco (go easy at first you DO NOT want to burp through the nose if you ever use this combo)

deviled eggs

sliced up Italian sausage

spicy tuna (the japanese dish they put in rice rolls, I don't know what's in it)

Is that the bacon or pork special from smokes poutine? I haven't tried it, but I believe it's overloaded with pork, pulled pork and bacon! By the way, love your sig!

Excuse me, poutine is double fried blanched potates, cheese curds, and brown sauce. Pepper is allowed if needed, that's it. Anything else is like putting ice in vintage wine.

Don`t confuse condiments with other foods.

If you put cheese on that same burger.. doesn`t it become a cheeseburger instead?
