I have received numerous scam calls from people posing as Amazon. I usually hang up right away.
But recently they have changed their tactics to trick you into agreeing to making the purchase.

The first time I received such a call, I was tricked. The caller said they are Amazon customer service and if I have made a $39.99 purchase, please hang up and I
based on past experience, without listening to the whole message, I hung up. I later checked my credit card record and there was not $39.99 charge.

This morning, I got a similar call and it was asking me to acknowledge a $399.99 purchase and if I agree, just hang up and if I disagree press 1 to speak with a customer
representative by pressing 1. I immediately pressed 1 and hung up quickly. They did not call back.

Just becareful. The scammers are getting smarter.

The scammer isn't actually calling from Amazon, so hanging up the phone won't result in confirming a purchase.

I can't stress this enough... If anyone ever speaks to a scammer by telephone, make sure that you have a dial tone before making your next outgoing call. In some cases, a scammer will still be connected to your phone after one party hangs up. They can then decode the phone number of your next outgoing call from the tone sounds.

Apparently if you do speak to a person [and why would you bother] asking them if they are right with Jesus is a good way to have them hang up on you.

I think we said landline disconnect the phone cable from the wall, if cell restart the cell phone. To avoid ears dropping.

I get texts from "Amazon " all the time. Trouble is, I haven't purchased anything from Amazon in 15 years. I get quite a few phone calls in Chinese. I leave those on- the background music is soothing.

FFS. There is litterally no need to do anything of the sort if you hang up the phone unless you are on a very poorly setup/maintained landline.

Cell phones do not use dial tone or key tones to begin with (go to.settings and you cN sett it to sheep noises or whatever else you want) and a proper landline will do a quick cut of the voltage to the line on hang up. If it does it every time you hang up it will not just fail because this is a scamm call.

Voip phones have an indicator that tells you when the line is still engaged...

Amazon does not call you unless you call them and they say they will return your call. Also, they give you their name so you know who's really calling.
