Have you ever made a big change in career? Taken a giant leap into the unknown? Did it work? Would you do it again?

He fired me because I would not play his games.

On a more serious note, I'm trying to move into freelance article writing. Competitive; hard to get paid; but something that I know I can do, and that I love.
I hear you make a killer lasagna.Gerald Ford said:I once was a driver for a wealthy aristocrat with a database.
Most of China but particularly Shanghai is booming and a fascinating place to travel. However, several of the countries you mention are closely monitor e-mails and would take great pleasure in prosecuting you for salacious traffic - certainly true of the PRC and Saudi Arabia. Further as you no doubt know the later isn't one of the best places for an unaccompanied western woman to travel. Those cautionary notes aside I hope all goes well. It is difficult starting in on a new career, but it certainly is possible, particularly if is something your heart is in, I know I’ve done it myself.Vancouver Femme Fatale said:While I adore Vancouver, I am getting the travel bug again and want to be able to support my dreamed-of travels to the Near and Far East. UAE, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, etc. Plus the city of Shanghai.
JTK not knowing specifically the line you are in, I would say just one thingjames t kirk said:I've been seriously considering quitting my job and starting my own company in my line of work.
I had tried to convince 3 other guys I work with to do the same and form a partnership, but they all lack the balls.
Right now, I am on the fence. I have my security with the company I work for, however, I feel I am capable of much more. The only problem is that in my business, clients look for big for the most part, even though the jobs are typically done by 2 or 3 people. Opening my own company, I'd be a very small outfit and even though I am known and I think that they respect me, it would be hard to convince them to give me work.
Kudos!Vancouver Femme Fatale said:Always good to know other folks have taken the plunge and are alive to tell the tale...I'm also making sure that I can do my new work from anywhere on the internet-enabled planet. Like to start off doing sex-related non-fiction articles, a little custom erotica, and eventually move into travel writing.
I've been published in well-known lit mags in an earlier incarnation; now have to dust off old connections and start networking again...thankfully creative types love unorthodox lifestyles, so my days as a 'bad' girl will help rather than hinder me...also kinda nice to use the education I've been using escorting to pay off!
