I'm looking forward to seeing this. Like many of us, I carried around a BlackBerry for several years. I always hoped they would continue to compete in the smartphone category.

This film probably won't be a hit at the theater. It probably won't hold any interest for anyone under 30. There won't be huge ad buys. I hope to catch it on a streamer.

I will watch it. I began my career in IT in the Blackberry era.

At least they succeeded before someone did much better.

And at least they did not end up in a major fraud like Nortel. My dad lost 75k on fucking fraud Nortel...

I had 4 Blackberry phones over the years. The Q10 was my favourite. Perfect size. Fit into my pockets and had a real keyboard, yet I could read the screen. I was ok with the mediocre camera at the time. I even had a Blackberry (pre-phone) circa 2001 which allowed instant messaging (email) and outlook calendar sync. It was a huge technological breakthrough back then. I only switched to a non Blackberry around 2018.

I will watch the film. It will be interesting to see how the downfall of the hardware business is portrayed. According to several accounts it's a classic case of the leadership group not recognizing the need to bring in top people with different skill sets to help the company evolve as it matured from the invention/promotion phase to the growth and market share retention phase. They totally missed the boat on the growth potential of cell phones for personal use and remained too focussed on business uses.

Blackberry continues as a software company and does a lot of cyber security business.
